“My name is Leigh-Ann Buchanan and I am a writer, strategist, advisor and producer, among other things. While it may seem like I focus my attention on a broad array of ventures, from Nyah Project, which supports high school youth from underserved background gain access to college and transformational leaderships experiences abroad, to aīre ventures, which is building sustainable social impact ventures, there’s a clear throughline in every project to which I bring my passion.
Truthfully, what enabled me to have such dynamic and wide-ranging professional experiences was that my mother encouraged me to prioritize my academic interest as well as creative endeavors, and most importantly, seek out paid learning opportunities at every step of my educational journey.
There are so many inequities that exist in society, I’m just trying to do my part to address them. The number of people whose lives are transformed as a result of your life’s work, that’s the definition of legacy. Black history is American history, and every February serves as an ever-present reminder that racial equity remains an aspiration, but not yet an achievement.
“People, purpose and impact over everything else.” This personal mantra perhaps best describes the source of my motivation and drive. In doing so, I often rely on my core strengths in strategy, communication and making connections, which is how I aim to add value to many of the projects that I focus my energy upon. “
