Kings fan here. What about hiring Dave Joerger as a head coach?

Joerger was the coach for the Kings before Luke Walton. Yes, he never led the Kings to the playoffs. However, his tenure oversaw a much less talented Kings roster than Walton had at his disposal. Joerger managed to squeeze out the best record the Kings have had since 2005-2006. He created a system better than the sum of their parts and led the Kings to a 39-43 season in 2018-2019 with a fastbreak high intensity offense. I know, this record doesn’t sound too impressive, but remember, this is the best record the Kings have had in like 17 years and he accomplished this with a very green team.

Here’s an article that sheds light on his style and philosophy: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-sacramento-kings-are-turning-their-games-into-track-meets/amp/

He coached a system that had Fox at the core. I think his style would translate well with Trae at the core as well.

Last I saw, he was the Assistant Coach for the 76ers. Should be noted, Joerger underwent treatment for cancer last year. Sounds like it was manageable, but I’m not sure if he’s completely done with his regiment and back to work yet.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts on him as a possible head coach?
