Just something to think about when you nerds are blindly sticking Mitch Keller, JT Brubaker and Roansy Contreras in your auction calculators. pic.twitter.com/butr2jkDSP

My over/under for wins next year is 75. Anything less than 75 is a failure.
I’ve said this on a few other threads but we had over 20 position players last year worth negative WAR, and that’s not including some of the horrible pitchers we used. We finished 19 games under .500. If we replace most of those players with even replacement level production, and get lucky and have some positive war players replace them, have some big leaps forward from second year players like Cruz and Contreras, there’s no reason we can’t finish over .500.
What is steamer?
Interesting: a full season of Roansy Contreras makes the pitching staff a lot better. I would like to see this applied to their other young stars instead of doing the service time tango.
And some [cold water](https://twitter.com/BuccoBallBlog/status/1618329567579758593) thrown on this tweet.

Given that the Pirates easily lost at least a dozen games that should have gone into the win column last year due to the injury to Bednar and the implosion of the rest of the bullpen, you can see even last year’s team as “should have won 70 games”. When you factor in a year of maturity for Cruz, Contreras and (hopefully) Keller, then add the better-than-last-year offseason veteran signings….yes, .500 is legitimately within reach for the 2023 Bucs. This of course assumes that there is not a rash of injuries and that even if some underperform, no one will poop the bed. Those may or may not be valid assumptions, but even if not, there is more depth on this year’s team and if the veterans just perform to the backs of their baseball cards, the Pirates will certainly be better. It’s not like the NL Central is particularly strong, either.
I’ll wait till I see the final roster after spring training, but as of now they aren’t going to have a winning season. They should hopefully not lose over a hundred games.
Lol. No.
If we hadn’t got rid of Hoy Park maybe. But no way in hell now.
Shit. Even with the mixed reactions in here now all I want to do is watch some baseball. Not a big bball fan, I no longer care who wins this Super Bowl, and there’s only so many soccer matches each week. Gimme that daily baseball grind!!!
