Credit where it’s due, the bullpen was strong today after a rare labored start from Nate and some guys who have been struggling came through

Eovaldi’s last 6 starts: 46.2 innings, 4 runs allowed, 9 total walks, 39 Ks, 0.78 ERA, 0.75 whip, average game score of 74.3
Today’s outing actually increased his WHIP while decreasing his ERA. Dude 100% deserves to be a Cy Young candidate through this first third of the season.

Burke, Hernandez, and LeClerc went scoreless through 4 innings combined. I know people will say the usual suspects like Evo or Seager for MVP, but nah, those guys held down the fort for once, gotta give em some props.

So random but I think it’s hilarious watching Boch call Jose “Hozee”
I love how Eovaldi clearly was not having his best day and still didn’t allow a run. And props to the bullpen; today they did exactly what they were asked to do.
But honestly I feel like the infield was the real story, with Semien and Seager just owning everything that came their way to save the pitching when they ran into a little static.

Bullpen needed a day like today. Wasn’t perfect by any means but it’s a step in confidence and ability

Best part of this game is not having to imagine what the game might have been like of Seags was still out. Anyway, remember last year we were all like guys can you imagine if this offense just had a few starters who could regularly go 5-6 innings and then let the bullpen take over? Feels great doesn’t it!
