VGK pizza drive, 2023 edition

Hey guys! I hope you’re all having good days.

So VGK fans have a young tradition where the fans send pizzas to a houseless shelter in the city whose team eliminated the Knights from the playoffs. This started from the bubble playoffs, where VGK players sent pies to the Boyle Street shelter in Edmonton and the fans kept it going after the playoffs ended. The initial drive ended with 597 pizzas donated, with the link becoming a permanent donation link on the shops website. Here’s the news link for that years drive: https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/mobile/weekly-pizzas-for-edmonton-s-homeless-continue-beyond-vegas-knights-playoff-exit-1.5110083

We decided to do it again in 2022, when Dallas knocked us out with 1 game left in the season. We ended up with over 130 pies that time. https://www.reddit.com/r/goldenknights/comments/uu52lh/pizza_donation_tradition_were_live

Since the Panthers are the only other team left, it will be between Vegas (if the Knights win) and Miami (if the Panthers win).

My question to you guys is: which shelter and pizza shop we can organize with if the Panthers win? Maybe we can set up some “pizza bets” between our fanbases?

Thanks again!

  1. I love this idea am and absolutely down to help donate some pizzas. I’m a bit further north than Sunrise, and will concede to others who might have better intel. But, I’m happy to do some looking and asking around if no one else has a better answer.

  2. This is an awesome idea. However, they are not a Miami team. They are a Broward county or Ft. Lauderdale team. Not trying to minimize the impact, but the community around this team is not Miami.

  3. Great cause and wonderful idea. Deerfield Beach would be a great selection along Dixie Highway. Would love to volunteer if possible!

  4. BTW, the Bolts started a tradition where we sent donations to the losing (or winning!) team’s charity of choice. This year, we donated to Leafs charity for mental health

Last year we donated to Leafs, Panthers, Rangers AND the Avs.

I love the idea of pizza and having volunteered in homeless shelters, it does so much for the hungry. Also love the idea of donating directly to a franchise charity of choice so they can use the funds as well.

I’ll help with pizza either way.

  5. This is cool.

I’m gonna throw Pizza Time in Coral Springs in here as a potential spot. Owner’s daughter is married to Luongo and it was a team hangout back in the day. Little Panthers history!

  6. This is so lovely!! I live outside of FL but I’d love to donate anyway I can. Thank you for sharing this over with us friend!
