Nice lineup.
On the season, the Cubs as a team have a 123 wRC+ against LHP and a 96 wRC+ against RHP.
Were I an opposing team, I’d be seriously considering rejiggering the rotation to avoid having lefty starters face the Cubs at all, or use an opener to take advantage.
Miguel Amaya has 21 plate appearances and already leads the 2023 Cubs in a counting stat.
He’s been hit by pitch three times, once more than Hoerner / Bellinger / Madrigal.
How is Mervis already at this point in his career where he is sat for every lefty? If you’re benched for every lefty pitcher then what kind of development is that ?
He hasn’t looked good against righties either. Just play the kid. Get him some confidence. Or send him down
