Looks like [Alex Debrincat](https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/senators-exploring-all-options-with-winger-alex-debrincat/) could be on the market. While my main want is a young center you can’t deny that Debrincat is a hell of a player and would add another layer of offense on our team. Considering our defense sucks, and most likely will for the next 1-2-3 seasons at minimum, why not load up on forwards who can score? Perhaps we can just outscore our problems and remain competitive while we wait to figure out how to fix our defense.

As fun as that could be to watch, I’m not sure they could possibly afford him, even with some moves. Guesstimates for his next contract say anywhere around 9mil/year. Blues don’t have that cash without making some big cap moves.
Would cost too much for a guy that doesn’t fill our main needs. I’d pass.
The only reason the Blues were even remotely competitive last season is because our offense was so good; we were winning games we had no business being in because we could just out score our problems.
More offense isn’t what we need.
Ask Edmonton how well that strategy actually works.
