> The Red Wings are not expected to re-sign any of their other pending UFAs: forward Adam Erne, defensemen Gustav Lindstrom, Robert Hagg, Jordan Oesterle and Mark Pysyk and goaltenders Alex Nedeljkovic and Magnus Hellberg.
Good. This is what I was hoping for.
Hot dog, we’re making MOVES.
Great news, Chiasson definitely deserved another contract. He was looking great on that powerplay unit.
Pius Suter really won me over this year, after being a bit of a bust as a second-line stopgap the year before.
“The Red Wings like Suter and Chiasson as depth players. They would prefer to sign Suter for one season, but he might explore the market for a two-year deal. They would like to retain Chiasson on a two-way contact, but he likely will see if he can get a one-way deal from another organization.”
Interesting, so sounds like they’ll both not be signing before July 1st.

Also interesting that the article lists all the other UFAs correctly and says we aren’t expected to re-sign them but also lists Lindstrom, who is an RFA. I wonder if that’s a mistake or if they’re moving on from Lindstrom?
The two I’d bring back, but I’d bring Oesterle back too. I think he’s a good 7D.
Was hopeful Ned would get another shot, especially after the strong play at the end of the season. I enjoy the chaotic style of play (when he’s on that is), and just seems like a good dude around the team.
Lotta gaps to fill, what’s Stevie Y cooking?
Suter seemed like the most difficult one to resign when it comes to cost and where he fits into the lineup. I like him but he’s a 4th line center, which begs the question about what you do with Veleno. I don’t think he’s going to go up to 2nd line center. Copp might start there but we should be building a roster that puts him on the 3rd line.
Chiasson was effective on the PP and that’s about it. He’s another 4th liner and if we already get Suter back, I don’t see how there’s room for him unless basically none of our prospects are ready for NHL time.
What’s the market like for goalies this summer?
If you can give Chiarot 4 years, you can give Suter 2….. He is the type of player good teams have. He plays every situation, every night, on any line. Is he special any one thing? No, but he can score some goals and play well in his own end. I would hate to lose him tbh.

Outside of Suter + Chiasson from the title:
