  1. Replace him with what? Yeah thats what I thought. No player available rn that’s better than Brown.

  2. Should the first thought to be to replace him? We have access to 4 first rounders and salary to match most contracts. I know people are scared of the new CBA Boogeyman, but we don’t really have to worry about it for another 2 years.

  3. I wish this sub could get behind our guys some more. Call yourselves Celtics fans but all you do is talk about our best players like they are bunch of trading cards.

  4. People keep coming at this from the perspective of we’re the Lakers and get our pick of whichever great players are available. You’re also ignoring that Brown and Tatum are close and you risk pissing off Tatum. If Tatum decides he’s unhappy this team can go back to the pre Garnett era real quick.

  5. If the C’s trade Jaylen they aren’t likely to get the same production back in a trade. Pretty much every Jaylen trade would make us worse now.

Do you want to trade an All-nba player just reaching his prime for less immediate talent? Who is to say the lesser player(s) they bring back in a trade don’t have an even worse on off with Tatum than Brown does.

Trading Jaylen for Cam Johnson or DeRozan makes you worse now. Especially as DeRozan can’t shoot from the outside and Cam Johnson doesn’t create much offense he’s more of a spot up threat.

It’s funny talking about Johnson being on those “ dominant” Suns teams while the Celtics have had more success during that period and Brown was a more vital piece for the C’s than Johnson ever was for Phoenix.

  6. Tatum+Brown isb even they’re playing what’s the opponent’s first string. Tatum only is against second string.

  7. Yes. People focus too much on all NBA thing. Brown has never finished top 30 in PER or real plus minus. He’s been a 1:1 AST:TO player his whole career.

  8. Too many people on this sub evaluate players individually instead of their team fit.

It is unlikely there is another player in NBA that we can get via Brown trade who is equal or more in individual talent to JB. But that does not mean there aren’t other players in NBA with whom JT would fit better. I think it is time to accept that overlapping skillset of Jays is a problem, and the problem gets worse because JB hasn’t improved at all in ball handling or facilitating. So teams are able to double JT with impunity and our supposed go to guy in those situations can’t do anything.

  9. This is effectively the “GSW should trade Klay Thompson for Kevin Love” thread.

Klay never had good advanced analytics and fans/media said Golden State needed to get a big man who could better compliment their #1 instead of overlapping.

That was the whole basis for the Thompson/Love trade talks the Warriors went through in 2014.

It was a terrible idea then, it’s a terrible idea now.

  10. Nice formatting! I’d suggest removing the vertical grid lines and bolding the legend row/column. I’d add a black thick horizontal line at the bottom. For the title, white font might work with that green but not sure if it’s dark enough and maybe slightly larger.

7/10 which is very high. Great alternate shading and love the very light grey gridlines!
