  1. He has better physical tools than Zappe, so that’s something. I do think he’s a worse player today, so it seems like a gamble to have him as the primary backup.

  2. I didn’t expect this, but I love it. Wanted the Pats to draft him that year. He was really good at Ole Miss. More upside than Zappe for sure.

  3. I mean this is a BB move if there ever was one. The Panthers traded up with the Pats to take Corral last year. Now the Pats end up with him after putting in a claim.

  4. So last year the Panthers traded for the pick they used on Matt Corral.

The Patriots got a 4th, used on Zappe and a ’23 3rd, that was traded for DeVante Parker

A year later they now get Corral on waivers. Not sure how good all that works out to be, but talk about assets for nothing.

E: Wait, we traded our 3rd rounder, we took Marte Mapu with the Panthers pick, nevermind greatest trade ever.

  5. His upside is good if he didn’t get hurt he would’ve been a 1st to 2nd round pick talent wise

  6. I mean thats fine and all (him or zappe as qb2) but can we get an established vet qb like a matt ryan as qb3 to basically coach them and the ps qbs

  7. I really liked him coming out this is an old school pats move high upside no downside.

  8. Looks like the 3rd rounder from Carolina was technically used in Mapu. But they needed that to replace their original 3rd rounder which was for Parker

  9. Carolina’s 2nd string OL has been so bad against everybody, it’s hard to pass any judgment on his two preseasons. They got him killed last year.

  10. Looks like the Panthers tried to sneak him onto the practice squad and got burned. He was on the initial 53 they didn’t waive him until yesterday.

  11. Interested now to see who gets dropped from the 53 to make room for Matt. Unless the Thornton to IR move opened the roster spot.

  12. This whole situation is Billarious!! First he unexpectedly cuts both backup QBs assuming he will bring them back to the practice squad after clearing waivers, then he gets murdered in the media for it. He is successful in bringing them back. Then a day lay later he goes and scoops Corral who most likely Carolina would have hoped clear waivers to get on their practice squad. And to make this even more Billarious, Carolina gave him a 3rd and 4th in the draft to pick Corral.
