  2. nah man i usually dont like his complaining but this game was way to much. it rly looked like the refs entered the game knowing they werent going to call anything on him.

    Canada was 10 times more physical than slovenia but somehow they get way more FTs.

    SGA (amazing game by him not his fault) got barely any contact and shot 16FTs compared to 7 for Luka just disgusting.

Another crucial game where he lets the refs take him out of the game mentally, hes gotta understand sometimes they are just out there to fuck you and your team and keep playing dosent matter what, I dont mind losing but please at least lose with dignity and not getting ejected for complaining too much when you are the captain of your team.

  5. Think everyone at this point just accepts that this is part of the deal with Luka. He will complain to the officials and let them get in his head. My guess is this will only change much later in his career when he’s older and more mature

    Last 2 days I commented how referees are what I’m most scared of ahead of today’s game and would you look at that, Canada are allowed 3x harder defending vs Slovenia, while we get called for non fouls, then you look at Brooks fouling Luka 10+ times, many times even before Luka could collect the ball, but nothing… I’m very disappointed in FIBA.

    As for Luka complaining, it’s normal, Scariolo gesticulated that the referees are bribed and Luka did it today, as well, Scariolo no technical, Luka yes. 😀 Whatever, I’m done.

  7. If this Slovenian team didn’t behave like this every single game, and weren’t so damn unlikable, I woulda felt bad for them. Refs decided from beginning to let this be tackle football with how Luka was defended, then in second half, when Canada started pulling away, it changed to touch fouls.

    It’s so fitting to see Luka and Brooks both get thrown out cause they can’t stop themselves from doing what they do(Brooks being an asshole, Luka being an immature emotional brat). I have no idea how Luka doesn’t get thrown out of every game he plays. He did the “refs are paid off” motion again.

    Dimec is one of the most useless, unskilled basketball players I’ve ever seen. No idea how Prepelic didn’t get thrown out. He was begging to be thrown out.

  10. Luka needs to dunk more, its a great way to release some anger instead of crying to the refs. He aint gonna stop crying till he finds a way to release his anger in a diff way and just throwing a basketball wont help woth anger whatsoever

  12. This game had nothing to do with basketball. It’s all about the refs trying to bring Canada to the final. They allowed them them to be physical from the first second, but not Slovenia. Nikolic got 2 fouls in first minutes, but Brooks could just foul and nothing was called.

    Sure Luka and his teammates shouldn’t have reacted like that, but that’s difficult to do if the refs are against you.

    I know not all the contacts on Luka were fouls, but a lot of them were and some were very obvious. On the other hand, SGA got free throws for everything.

  13. Obviously someone made the call for USA vs Canada. It’s heard to stomach as someone who has watched this Slovenia team since Luka was drafted. You hope Luka gets better to overcome officiating, but also we are not on the court understanding what’s is like to go through what a player goes through

  14. 2 years in a row he’s gotten ejected in an elimination game at a FIBA tournament. You don’t leave your teammates to fight alone in a do-or-die situation like this because you’re trying to settle scores with the refs, period.

  15. At least his thigh looked better and his conditioning looks to have improved- albeit not as much as I thought given all the content.

    Good riddance to the WC, the officiating was horrible and Luka felt close to injuring himself too many times.

    He has a reputation now with refs and it’s only going to hurt him if he doesn’t grow up. I bet if we see his technical fouls decrease his FTA will increase.

  16. Luka is Luka’s worst enemy. He has to know by now that someone built like a linebacker and someone smaller (like Shai) get different whistles. This is not new, yet he still throws a tantrum. I actually think he could get more calls with less bitching and moaning.

    To be clear, I’m not saying the officials were good in this game, or the tournament for that matter. But Luka has to help himself here by stopping the constant bitching.

  17. I love Luka as much as the next guy but he really needs to get his shit together with this foul baiting and complaining when the officiating is not going his way. It hurts the team, it hurts the flow of the game, it hurts our defense, it hurts him.

    I know he just wants to win, he is that competitive. But he also needs to be smart and cool headed when things aren’t going our way because this is when he gets worse on defense because he diverts his attention and energy to the refs by complaining.

    I kinda like that this happened in the FIBA World Cup and not the regular season because he needs to realize that this shit is not the way if the Mavs want to win a championship. He is a feisty player I know that but he gotta figure how to control his emotions so as to not hurt the play of his team.

  18. Same old shit with Luka, and of course it’s never him, it’s ALWAYS the refs. What happens is he is getting his ass beat and he starts having a mental breakdown and gets ejected from the game. It’s going to happen again this year time and time again.

    Luka is fun to watch but he will never be as good as we want him to be because of shit like this.

  20. Let’s just hope these refs bring that same home cooking for the eventual USA vs Canada game. I think it was a long shot for Slovenia anyways. Would be glad for Canada to topple a giant (am Canadian)

  21. I am a huge Mavs fan and I can’t even stand Luka, imagine how the refs and other fans feel. Now he’s going to be angry and go on an eating and alcohol binge because that’s who he is at this stage in his life. I would love to be wrong but the writing is on the wall and you gross fanboys are lying to yourselves and making laughable excuses for him.

  23. I was at the game, excited for Luka and all.

    And oh boy. Luka was incredibly frustrating.

    His micro-complaining to the refs was mind-boggling. It’s always Luka vs. the refs in his head and it’s throwing his teammates off. Slovenia’s transition defense suffered because of him.

    It’s a personality disorder at this point.

  24. One of the worst performances I have seen from him. Brooks totally locked him up and after he got his first technical the whole team fell appart. We were neck and neck with them but when he got the T his attitude and body language completely shifted. He cared more about proving the point to the refs than winning, as he often does for Slovenia. This is like the 3rd time we got knocked out of the tournament and he is the main reason for it.

    If he changed his attitude during the game from “worst of all time” to just “bad” he would be the GOAT. But he is too stubborn and has too many dickriders around him so that will never happen. A shame that the greatest Slovenian team sports athlete is such a bitch.

  27. I’ve almost never complained about officiating but this game was beyond disgusting to watch. I don’t mind refs letting the game being physical but atleast call it both ways. And I know we keep saying luka needs to be more mature but this shit was too much. Almost as if the refs had something to prove against luka

  30. Im gonna be honest, i dont enjoy Luka playing lately. This man is always crying to the refs when things aint going his way.

    Like he was so different when playing in his rookie and sophomore year. Now he acts like a diva. Like just play ball man.

    People thought his problem was the body/conditioning but i really think its his mental. How many games we lost last year cause he let our defense 4v5 while he was arguing with the ref? Or the 10000 techs?
