Ryan Leaf says Steelers should run straight at 49ers’ Nick Bosa over and over

  1. I get what Leaf is saying (without a training camp, Leaf believes Bosa isn’t game-ready), but with Bosa — who generally skips preseason — has gotten a sack in three of the four Week 1 games he’s played.

Historically, even though it’s a very small sample, Bosa hasn’t been slow outta the gate w/o a preseason

  2. I’m betting Bosa will not be on the field for most “running” downs. Not in week 1 anyway.

  3. To this I say I hope they do, because it’ll be fun seeing Bosa’s first game back from his holdout involve an unbreakable record for single-game TFLs.

  4. The guy literally comes from a family of NFL talent, knowledge, and resources. To believe he wouldn’t know how to get himself ready without being around the team is silly.

  5. Why would anyone ever listen to Ryan Leaf or take him serious? Not saying a person can’t change, but his comment is as sensical as his previous decision making on the field in the NFL.

  6. Who cares what Ryan Leaf has to say? Close to JaMarcus Russell as the biggest bust in football. That aside, he was never in the kind of shape Bosa is year-round. I know there’s “football shape,” but I’ll bet on Bosa being ready to contribute

  7. I hope the Steelers run all day long, because Najee Harris is one of the most overrated players in the league.

  8. Pretty sure Bosa and Hargrave are right next to each other also, sounds like a great plan.

  9. Oh. No. Don’t do that. Please. No. That’s the last thing we want. Anything but that. Please.

  10. Ryan Leaf? Is that guy any more relevant than the drunk that lives on the corner stool in a bar that opens at 8 in the morning? Sure. Go for it lol.

  11. If he’s saying it like NB’s out of shape, bad take. But if he means you run at elite rushers to wear them down and disrupt their rhythm, he has a point

  12. These sorts of tales are always wild to me. “Xyz is back from injury. Take advantage” “he is low on game reps. Take advantage”.

    1. Let’s not act like Bosa is the type to let himself lose his fitness. He probably knew it’s a matter of time before he signed a new deal in SF.

    2. Let’s not act like a man forgets about how football works because they took a few extra weeks or a month off. How many preseason reps do first string players get anyway? Preseason is all about the guys who are fighting for spots to prove themselves.

    3. If Bosa plays against Pittsburgh, that’s because the coaches think he can contribute. If he’s on the field, that means he is good enough and can’t be run down.

    4. Bosa has come back from serious injuries and won DPPY. Can we not pretend time off has ruined him? If a man can come back from that, time off is nothing.

    5. Even Bosa at 30% of his peak is better than most pass rushers anyway
