That, by far, is my least favorite announcing duo.
Every time there’s a rain delay, certain Dodger fans whine about how “aLL pArkS sHoulD hAVe a rOOf.” I’m not necessarily against roofs/domes or ballparks that have them. Still, putting a roof on every park isn’t gonna happen.
* Roofs are EXPENSIVE. For publicly funded parks, this translates to higher sales and income taxes, especially for those who live in a “stadium district.” For all teams, this can translate to less generous contracts, cuts to player development, and a lesser product on the field.
* Just look at Stade Olympique in Montreal, or the snow cave-ins at the late Metrodome, for only some of the ways roofs can go wrong. And every existing roof or dome in MLB is riddled with leaks, mechanical issues and other problems. The D-backs and Brewers are begging for money to fix their roofs. If you have an idea for a roof, mechanical or not, that would resolve these problems, I’d like to hear it.
* This game is almost 200 years old, and many fans see rainouts as a normal part of the game. And they are, unless you’re in a dry place like LA. Baseball schedules are made to accommodate rainouts and other eventualities
* You sound extremely spoiled and whiny when you complain about rainouts. And you wonder why people hate fans of the Dodgers and other LA teams. I swear, we’re not all like this.
I’m pretty sure most knew it was a loss when the bottom of 11th began. But, it’s their offense that’s to blame, I think. While it clearly isn’t completely absent, they’ve just been failing to capitalize with RISP, and often with less than 2 outs.
They really could have had the Nats down and out early in this one but they didn’t produce enough.
