Arthur Smith was once again talking about “fantasy football” when asked about his #8 pick getting 1 target

  1. All he had to say was “We’ve got to put our #1 WR in a better position to make plays”… but instead he gives his stubborn default answer😂

  2. Thats his immediate response whenever someone brings up our pass catchers. The fact is if we didn’t take Pitts and London in the top 10 of their drafts then the expectations wouldn’t be as high for them to be utilized.

  3. Although I wish he wouldn’t be so antagonistic about it, he’s right.

I’ve seen people blaming his scheme, which I think is nuts.

There are plays where these guys are open by 20 yards, thanks to the scheme. Right now we’ve just got a shy QB who’s scared to throw it beyond the line of scrimmage.

I’m not sure how much better Ridder will get, but Pitts and London won’t go off until there’s a QB with some pocket poise and presence that is willing to make the throws.

  4. It’s going to be hard to retain pitts and London during contract talks. This something that is overlooked as well. Ain’t no way I’m staying with a franchise that’s fucking in my potential money because we can’t throw the ball.

  5. Not everything is about fantasy football Arthur, we want to see our highly drafted guys play well, be productive and maximise their potential. Not being able to utilise 2 (3 soon?) top 10 picks isn’t a fantasy football issue, it’s a coaching issue.

  6. Let’s not overreact yet. This is Ridder’s first game not targeting London at least 8 times.

AS mentioned about a few plays designed for the X (that’s London) where he was covered and Ridder had to go through his progressions, which is a good thing Ridder was able to do that

  7. I both like and don’t like Arthur Smith. Like I appreciate his frank demeanor at times, but he’s also sometimes an asshole when being fairly criticized. Our passing game is objectively bad and it’s at least partially because of the playcalling.

Alternatively, if he doesn’t think elite pass catchers are important for this team then he shouldn’t be getting them drafted. These are his guys and he’s completely wasting them. Like maybe draft offensive linemen instead if you don’t think not using these weapons are a problem?

  8. I have Drake and started him and I don’t care either because 1-0 is better. I mean it may also be because I also had Joe burrow who had 82 yards and nothing else for a grand total of………..8 fantasy points! So I wasn’t winning anyway no matter what London did.

  9. Pitts and Drake account for cap hits of over 16 million this year. Imagine the falcons signing Bates and then using him on 25% of the snaps. You don’t think that deserves a question? Imagine the saints drafting two Chris Olaves and then doing this while passing for 115 yards. You don’t think this sub would feel differently?

  10. Dude thinks he can talk to people like Bill Belichick or Bill Parcells. BB’s confrontational style is dumb and unnecessary, but he’s earned the benefit of the doubt. Arthur just shows up and think he can be a tough guy. This ain’t the FedEx mailroom, buddy.

Anyway, yeah, draft players in the top ten and then can’t get them the ball? That’s a multi-million dollar, existential-to-the-state-of-your-franchise type problem. Not a fantasy football problem.

  11. He’s right. Passing more would have been worse for the team yesterday. But I wish we didn’t draft two pass catchers so high in this offense. It may pay off for Ridder in time, though.

  12. I’ve never seen a sub more salty over a 14 point win lol. It’s a team game guys and we have a lot of mouths to feed on offense now. London and Pitts will get their moments to shine too.

  13. Artie is an idiot. Yes, winning is the ultimate gosl. However getting 1 target to your #8 drafted highly talented WR is not a winning formula. The only reason they won that game is Psnthets

  14. He has to stop using fantasy as a scapegoat , you drafted pass catchers top 10 in back to back seasons knowing you a run first coach and always will be … use them properly before they get tired .

  15. We worry about it because two top 10 picks got maybe 4 targets during a game. It’s just shit team building Art nothing to do with fantasy. We care about winning Superbowls and you don’t do that underutilizing your talent.

  16. Play like you did yesterday to a competitive team with a decent, not rookie 1st game, QB, and those 4th Q TDs mean you lose 41-24.

If you cant pass the ball to your WR or TE in this league and the opposing QB doesnt throw multiple gift interceptions and this is a much different story every week.

  17. I’ve been downvoted for MONTHS on this sub for pointing out the fact that we drafted two pass catchers with elite potential in the top 10(IN CONSECUTIVE DRAFTS) only to use them as decoys and glorified lineman!!!! “But but but…… you don’t see understand we drafted these guys to punish defenses when they load the box!!” WE THREW IT PAST 5 YARDS LIKE TWICE YESTERDAY. My point was always : why draft elected pass catches in the top 10 if you only pass 20% of the time, as much as I love both of them, I would’ve much rather drafted pass rushers, ya know : the thing that is needed on almost every down. SECONDLY I doubt either of these top 10 drafted receivers are thrilled about the aspect of a second contract in ATL with the way they’re being utilized. I’m not a Ridder believer but you have to atleast give the guy the opportunity to show if he can produce or not. Arthur needs to show us that he can be more than a teams floor raiser, it’s year 3, I’m ready to atleast try to get past 7 wins.
