What a surprise. Nearly $2Bn in contracts and may not even finish .500

I actually do think it’s a surprise. Historically impotent season with a roster many think contains hall of famers.
I feel zero ounce of sympathy for their fans, not because they puffed out in spring training or trolled over a divisional series win. I feel no sympathy for them because they’re too stupid to think that anyone could build around machado. They will defend him to the end, that he’s “matured” and has become a locker room leader.
That clubhouse is toxic, make no mistake about it. They celebrated too soon when hosmer was dealt, and no one realized machado is the one poisoning the well. You can see it in the dust ups with tatis, the dugout blowups, and the aloofness in interviews. He is a money first relic from a bygone era, and I frankly despise the player for his shenanigans in LA.
I want the padres to be good again. But I want the fans to be smart enough to be calling for a change from machado

It is kinda surprising yeah
Although I wish it was true, they’re not technically eliminated yet.
They’re 8 games out of the wildcard spot but hopefully they’ll continue to shit the bed and miss the WC spot as well.
They would have to go 14-4 to finish at .500. Even with a soft schedule it’s hard to see them doing that. Especially since finishing .500 won’t even put them in contention for a playoff spot, so they’d be fighting for nothing.
Now my issue with the Padres is they are so fucking smug without having actually done or accomplished anything and that comes from the players and has trickled down to the fanbase. Captain Fuckface Machado’s energy radiates all over that city in the worst way which is why I can’t stand any Padres players and fans that act the same exact way. I think in 2020 we really saw it come to fruition during the whole shortened season and that energy has not left that team. I am so glad we swept those fuckers. In a great season full of many highlights that was up there.

I just think the smug energy is the Padre’s identity and I think every player who joins that team radiates fuckboy smug energy and I can’t stand them all especially Machado n Tatis. I really dislike Grishman and Profar while he was there and neither of them we’re even playing good to be acting the way they did lol.

Other teams fans think the Dodgers just ‘bought’ a team. They spent more time and effort on the farm system than they did on free agents.
I read somewhere they’re gonna double down and extend Soto. They’re so fucked with all those shitty contracts they won’t be able to move.

I’ve seen this meme a few times but it’s not true. Padres are still in wild card contention. The only team in the NL that has been eliminated from the playoffs is Colorado.
Padres local TV deal blew up. They may be looking to shed some contracts this off season.
