At least in my heart they are. The NBA is crazy stacked and the best duo is probably Bron and AD. Jokic and Murray have an argument too. Booker and KD, Giannis and Middleton/Holiday, Tatum and Brown, etc. They are underrated as a duo and are top ten probably.
The idea of them being too small is pretty ridiculous to me and not the reason the Cavs have/ will fail as a team. Neither of the two backcourts that were in the finals were particular very big or amazing defensively. KCP is a really good defender but is a role player – Murray and Mitchell are very close in size – Only difference is Murray being one inch taller – Mitchell said recently he was 6”3, which I assume is in shoes, so he’s 6”1 barefoot and 6”3 in shoes. While I would imagine Murray’s 6”2 or so barefoot and his listed height of 6”4 in shoes. Both are 215 pounds and Mitchell’s wingspan is four inches taller.
So when people say Mitchell is undersized and they can’t play together I think it’s bullshit. Garland is small but when you’re as good as him offensively and play PG, the least valauble position on defense, I don’t think it’s as much as a hindrance as other people think.
The main problem with our team is unlike Denver, we don’t have a Jokic as our superstar. We have our Murray and Porter, Mitchell being better than Murray or on the same level, and Garland being better than MPJ. We don’t have our Jokic and I doubt Mobley will be good enough offensively to be the best player on a title team. Doesn’t mean I don’t think we have a chance at all, but we had LeBron for 11 years and won one title and it took coming back from 3-1. Chances are, Mobley will probably not be a top 10 or 15 player ever – I say that as a huge Mobley fan too.
