Not a guru of defense

  1. The chargers have scored 92 points in the last 3 games that have counted and lost all 3. “Great defensive mind”

  2. The defense doesn’t even look like it’s improving, it’s just the same damn thing game in and game out.

Can’t say I saw our defense getting worse when we hired Staley but here we are, it’s just painful at this point 🤦‍♂️

  3. Justin herbert has carried this guy. Most points scored first 3 seasons, and his defense has given up the most in a players first 3 seasons. Feel so bad for him, and this offseason was the perfect time to move on from Staley

  4. Nobody is going to want to hear this, but it took 3 full seasons for the Fangio defense to really take hold in Chicago, and it never fully took hold in Denver.

Because of how fast Staley turned around the Rams defense, people think it’s an overnight success. More often than not…. It isn’t.

  5. Question.. did Staley ever call himself a defensive guru? Like I get that everyone is upset and with good reason. But the dude genuinely takes responsibility for things and is humble otherwise. Seems like everyone on here just shits on the guy like he deemed himself to be a genius.

  6. Cowherd laid into him good today. His thesis was whether you’re a defense guy or an offense guy, when you become HC, *that* part of the team should have that side of the ball shored up quickly. He gave some examples then listed some of these stats

  7. He’s more a guru of people and that’s fine. At a point he’s gotta let someone else handle the defense

  8. Staley is over his head but they have the players to bail him out. He’s become the social media coach. A lot of hype but can’t translate this to reality.

They will be in the thick of it at the end of the season, but Staley is the biggest liability the team has.
