I got sent down a rabbit hole after watching Lav on 24/7. It’s a long one but it really gives you a good feel of his coaching and what we could expect on creating offense and other areas. Man, what a difference from Gallant. This is the difference between a players coach and a hockey coach.
And that story in the beginning reminded me of a story I once heard. Sometimes you forget that these players are just humans and some can just be fucking dumb
I won’t give names either but it was an ex-Ranger on a Wolf-Pack road trip. He was waiting for an important call from his agent. It was a while ago, cell phones were not widespread. So they are on the bus and someone notices he is carrying the cordless receiver from his cordless home phone. Get’s called out and he explains how he is waiting for a call on his cordless home phone in the middle of nowhere in Calgary. Everyone starts laughing and saying shit of course. He apparently gets pissed and yells that everyone should shut the fuck up, he is not fucking dumb. He brought the base with him also…..Yup, that dumb. Now try teaching that person a left-wing lock. We focus a lot on skill but forget you need a brain sometimes.
