Team stats from 2022-23 — any surprises?

  1. This might just be some underpaid intern, but you can go fuck yourself u/nhl. Tell your bosses they’re a bunch of cowardly sacks of shit.

  2. Consider Florida had a 5OT, I’m surprised they didn’t win that third one by several miles

  3. Yeah no surprise the Flames are at the top here after playing in 24 overtimes, most in the league.

  4. I’d like to see what specific periods / games those record distances were

Montreal is top for biggest distance period but not on the full game one at all.

Were they buzzing about scoring 5 or getting slaughtered just running around chasing ghosts?

  5. Really interesting to me the a 10mph increase in shot speed takes it from the top number being 12 to 210. Same with the massive jump from 22 mph sprints to 20.

  6. Interesting that they’re all so close… maybe rhe variation as you go down the list is more significant, but I’ll bet especially the total distance stats are very similar across all 32 teams

  7. Not seeing the Canucks on any of the lists makes total sense because we mostly just float around on the ice with quick little speed Bursts when a player has the puck and thinks they might be able to pad their stats.

We don’t believe in the value of a forecheck, it’s way smarter to just wait for the puck to land on ur stick

  8. To explain the Jackets: when you shoot it as hard as possible and miss the net you need to skate back to your own end very quickly.

  9. Yeah Joe “Cinderblocks” Pavalski is a weird choice when Roope is on the same line.

Actually that line is so imbalanced with Hintz who skates like the devil and two guys who are below average skaters. But perfectly balances out the line.

  10. Miles skated gotta be the dumbest stat, think it’s tied with sportsnet’s day on earth or whatever it was. I’m going to block the user, tone deaf moronic league. You goona ban pride flairs in this subreddit too?

  11. It’d be really interesting to see the winning percentage for teams that skated more distance than their opponent. I’d bet on the winning team skating less, as once you have a lead, you can sit back a little more and wait for your opportunities to score. In tie game scenarios, however, I’d like to know if skating more leads to a higher chance of winning

  12. you could have told me any 10 teams lead the league in distance skated and I would have believed you.

  13. This is why I don’t buy the “Pens old” narrative.

Team objectively still has its legs.

  14. Not surprised by Flames and Stars leading skating the distance since it felt like they went into OT like every other game.

  15. So Habs skate more than any team in the league in a period and that game doesn’t even crack top-10 over three periods. Pretty much describes last season for Canadiens
