NHL point leaders by birth month

  1. Are there any active players (excluding Ovechkin) who are going to top their list once their career is over? McDavid seems like the only slam-dunk choice but he’s a January kid and as good as he is, I don’t see him passing Gretzky. Does Kane have 100 points left in him? Does Crosby have a chance to pass Dionne?

  2. Someone doesn’t know how to properly use tab stops. (Which makes me wonder what kind of software they use.)

  3. Ron Francis thinking he’s got it, with Gordie standing behind him with a folding chair

  4. Has anyone read Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell? He makes a point about how Canadian players specifically born earlier in the year had an advantage growing up due to January age cutoffs in the leagues they played in (they would be older, bigger/stronger then players born later). Kind of interesting how the top 3 highest points are in Jan + Feb + March

  5. 2 Red Wings – Gordie Howe & Steve Yzerman

2 Penguins – Jaromir Jagr & Mario Lemieux

2 Oilers – Wayne Gretzky & Paul Coffey

    1 Jet – Dale Hawerchuk

    1 Avalanche – Joe Sakic

    1 Sabres – Gilbert Perreault

    1 Capital – Alexander Ovechkin

    1 Bruin – Ray Bourque

    1 Kings – Marcel Dionne

  6. Question is what’s going on in April?

Seems like it’s a bit low compared to the other early months

  7. Messier being born in almost any other month would’ve been top of the list, but instead he got stuck a thousand points behind the GOAT

  8. Does this prove that earlier in the year you are born, the better you are at accumulating points?

  9. It’s crazy that Crosby and Ovi are already at 15th and 16th all-time in points. They should be top 10 all-time next season.
