NHL leaders in PDO(5v5, >50 TOI) after 5 games. In case you found yourself saying “wow, that player is really having a breakout/resurgence”
October 23, 2023
Only Matt Grzelcyk finished last season above 1.05, only Andrei Kuzmenko finished with an oiSH% above 13

Ridly Greig has a 67% xGF at 5v5 so he’s still playing very well
I have to ask if this is a veiled Debrincat slandery attempt
Haha Tyler Myers is on this list and every Canucks fan STILL wants him launched into the sun as soon as possible. And this is him when he’s getting lucky. JFC.
On the other hand, I definitely don’t have much trouble imagining Pettersson maintaining a 22% ONSH and ~.919 ONSV.
Lol Forbort. 40% xGF% at 5v5 with an 80% actual GF%. That man owes Ullmark and Swayman so many beers for keeping him from getting smoked at 5v5 for the third straight year. Also a 19% on ice S% helps as well.
These stats/analytics mean nothing to me bc I don’t understand them and I’m okay with that
Ah yes we were all talking about the resurgence of Tyler Myers
But looks like some good players are on this list so I’ll take it as good news that Tyler Tucker is on there.
Hopefully we can get him some top pairing minutes sometime soon.
Yay! Another player chart where I have no idea what anything means!
Get this Justin Holl slander off my feed he’s winning the Norris
Did I read it correctly that this stat tracks the players that are actually bad (many shots are taken by the opponents with them on the ice) but it doesn’t show because the goalies bail them out?
Debrincat, Veleno, Holl, and Chiarot all topping the list?
I’m going to take this as confirmation that my superstitions are finally paying off and we will maintain this performance as long as I keep doing weird shit on game days.
PDO is such a weird stat. Like Panarin’s PDO is 103 for his career.
Does that mean he’s lucky?
Or, does that mean he is really good at passing, has a really good shot, and plays acceptable defense?
You gotta be good to get lucky.
You’re telling me Myers, despite being this bad, is actually lucky and could be so much worse?
The fact Myers is on this list with two points in five games is so funny to me.
