L.L.Bean x Winter Classic Ice Rink Build
The venue is fantastic and we’re just really excited to be here we started yesterday first step is uh parking our Refrigeration truck we’ll start installing piping get all of our ice pans in start hooking up all the all the piping for that we build our rink up
On a little stage Riser that just ensures everything’s level perfect and then we put in our Dashers fill the system turn on all the ice plant and then we’ll be starting to make ice we’ll be installing right up until we have people on the ice on December 30th for this
One we’re 11 days for the build to build into that Christmas break uh in a Stadium Series or her just classic we would be 3 or 4 days shorter it’s a lot of hours a lot of care intention and detail kind of making sure that the Devas is perfect ready for the players
Today is uh what we call our lines and logos day so basically we’re installing all of the hockey markings and all of our partner logos now the rest of the night we’re going to just build ice basically we’ve got about another 10,000 gallons to go to get up to uh 2 and
1/2 in of ice and then we’ll be ready for practice day the practice day is is a lot of fun for us not only is it challenging work-wise and we get to really kind of dial things in for us but really to get to see the players come out and enjoy practice
And uh they really see the Joy on their faces and we get to be a part of that as well whenever we’re doing an outdoor event obviously weather is a a major factor in what we do and and obviously we’re monitoring conditions all the time and and trying to kind
Of forecast what we need to do and and reacting to the environment that we’re in I mean here it’s pretty consistent temperatures for us so we are anticipating a really good build to I would say that as when the teams walk out there’s still a little bit of nerv nervousness
For us just not sure exactly how the sheet will hold up yet but once that first period gets underway we’ve had a couple of TV timeouts and we’ve been able to get out on it uh then we
Can relax and enjoy the rest of the game and enjoy sort of all of our hard work for me it’s a lot of fun we have a good group of people that all work together it’s a a big team not
Only our crew but with uh band Productions the event team um working with a number of different departments to put it on and then really to be a part of the event and during the game uh and really being a part of the game is is pretty unique and pretty special for our
