OK, first and foremost you have to turn off injuries. This is a very important step. Then you need to lead the league in every offensive category. Once you do that it matters less that your pitchers’ numbers won’t be as good as they would be at sea level. You don’t need a lineup chock full of hall of fame players. Hall of very good works well enough. Having several starters pitch 200 plus innings is a big bonus, and a lock down bullpen seems to close out wins pretty effectively. If you can acquire a Billy Wagner equivalent it’s probably to your advantage. Everyone on the team was capable of catching the ball when it was hit in their general vicinity, which might have contributed to team success. Also, an epic 9 WAR season from your SS could possibly be helpful.
You probably want a manager that’s a moderate tactician. That was the strategy that I used, except I turned down the sac bunt a little more.
