What is this smoke/fog coming out of the arena roof at Rogers in Edmonton

  1. It’s secretly a spaceship getting ready to take off. Edmonton will play outdoor games from here on out

  2. It’s a mist that Rogers pumps into the arena to freshen the air and try to balance humidity and overpowering scents. It’s really only used when Calgary is in town due to all the axe body spray, Colt 45, chewing tobacco, abscessed teeth, and general lack of personal hygiene their fans exhibit. As you can see from the picture, this is from an Oil Kings game against the Calgary Hitmen, so they had to double up the volume due to the additional smell of the families that come up from Calgary to support their kids.

  3. Not really familiar with the local weather in Edmonton other than extreme cold but if it’s also really dry, they could be adding moisture to the air in the arena which would definitely make it more comfortable for you.

I think the ice surface also benefits from it?

  4. These things were running full time during PBR Cup Finals. The dirt kept over-drying the rink, and these bad boys brought their musty delights to the rescue.

  5. The Oilers are clearly trying to recreate the conditions of that one game in 1988.

  6. They do the same in Columbus. I always thought they did it right before the light show to make it beams more visible.

  7. It’s haze. They use it in concerts as well. It’s so you can see the light effects.

  8. It cools the building, comes on every 3rd period during home games. I know it also brings in fresh air as well. But it cools it down, due to body heat warming the building to much

  9. It’s the covid vaccine, open your eyes they’re spraying your skies!
