[Ardaya] Dave Roberts on what Yoshinobu Yamamoto said to him after the comebacker in this fifth: “He said he almost died.”

  1. Report: Yamamoto then said, “Death, I do not fear” and proceeded to strike out the next two batters to complete the inning. (Source: Trust me bro)

  2. Yeah, those are scary. I remember a comebacker in triple A against some kid that clearly hit puberty early. I’m sure it was hit much slower, but given the mound is much closer it still got to me in a blink of an eye. I some how snow coned it while getting out of the way (complete luck).

Accidentally let the guy on first tag up and get 2nd though because I was so flabbergasted by nearly getting dome shot, so fair play to him on the heads up base running and realizing I didn’t have my composure back yet.

  3. I remember watching Kaz ishii take one off the dome from Brian Hunter back in the day…the sound it made was absolutely grizzly. Glad Yama got his glove up in time

  4. Was anyone watching the Japan stream on Abema? if I remember correctly Kaz Ishii is the commentator there and I’m sure he had something to say about this haha.
