As inspired by this post, here’s a compendium of every unique color used across NHL jerseys. A few ground rules:

  • I opted not to total up black and white, as except for the “heritage white” beige color they’re virtually identical across all teams.

  • Coyotes are not included as they are sadly dead.

  • For the most part, I stuck to colors featured prominently in jerseys and/or crests, and omitted those that are only used in small amounts/as trim – as a result, the Sharks’ orange (just the eye/stick) does not appear here, and neither does the silver (trim) of the Canucks.

  • I stuck to just primary sets and alternates, so no colors from outdoor game jerseys here.

Notes:

  • There’s lots of similar shades or generic names – shoutout to Columbus/Minnesota/Seattle/Winnipeg for unique names, even if the shades aren’t/

  • Almost half the league uses the exact same shade of red in some way. Pretty crazy.

  • The three shades of "royal blue" are not all the same blue – while the Sabres and Islanders use the same, the Oilers’ is a little darker.

  1. Lightning really couldn’t pick any other shade of blue to go with their white eh?

  2. Where did you get the sources for the hex colors? There’s no way that Golden Knights gold is accurate to their gold jerseys.

  3. I don’t care what the Utah team calls itself as long as the name lends itself to the colour purple

  4. I love my team but hate that shade of blue. Wish it was a dark/navy blue.

  5. Stars fumbled when they left the dark green for the victory green, imo. I know everyone loves the new green but damn those gold/dark green jerseys looked so nice.

  6. I’m going to convince myself that the shades of blues/reds/grays are ever so slightly different from team to team

The idea that these teams have the exact same colors as each other just feels wrong

  7. As a Jets fan I feel like the actual colour of their jerseys is missing? Like the two shown are much lighter than the primary colour of their home jerseys are they not?

  8. Is the shade of red the Canucks use different on the current jersey than the 90s version? And yellow as well?

  9. Where did the dark orange for the Oilers come from? What uniform has it?

  10. Mad props for posting all the hex color codes. Now do RAL and Pantone

  11. For the Rangers, is the blue used on the jersey and the dark blue used for the crest and name / number lettering?

  12. I am completely caught by surprise by how little blue is actually in the Caps jersey color scheme. It feels like a major part of it to me lol

  13. Still unbelievable the Lightning are just getting away with wearing a Leafs uniform for more than 30 years now.
