How I miss those teams…Pregames with Eckersley, and Remdawg & Orsillo announcing. I watched nearly every game of the '03 & '04 seasons as a kid.
The Sox/Yanks rivalry during those years was really something to see. I'll never forget the bench clearing game 3 of the 2003 ALCS, with Pedro 'guiding' Don Zimmer to the ground. Or game 1 of the '03 ALDS against Oakland that went into extras when Grady put Derek Lowe in to pitch in the 12th, and the game ending with a bases loaded bunt by Ramon Hernandez…I never cursed so much in my life (even after watching Wake's first knuckler of the 11th inn soar into the upperdeck of Yankee Stadium off the bat of friggin' Aaron Boone, I was just too distraught to yell profanities at the TV.)
But then came 2004 with that unforgettable ALCS series, down 3 games to 0, and 3 outs away from a season ending sweep, Millar leads off the 9th with a walk off Rivera, Dave Roberts pinch runs and steals 2nd after multiple pick-off attempts by Mariano, Mueller's game-tying single, & Big Papi's walk off homer in extras. Papi did it again the next night with his extra-inning walk off single up the middle…I could go on, but I realize now that I'm starting to ramble :/
