Marty’s regular season wins will never be touched.
Just saying, why is terry sawchuck’s photo with the Rangers? He was with the wings the majority of his career. Great players listed.
Its telling just how far modern equipment and training has come along that 8 of the top 10 are from the last 30 years.
Part of that is that the playoffs is now 4 rounds each with 7 games, but a big part of it is that we’re now in a spot where goalies can play three out of every 4 games instead of having 50 games being seen as a heavy workload.
Its also a tribute to just how special Sawchuk and Plante were that they’re on this list at all.
Hasek not being here is crazy
Great Quebec representation in that top 5
To put Brodeurs record in perspective: a goalie could win 40 games and the Stanley Cup every year and it would still take them 15 years to catch Brodeur in Regular+Playoff Wins
Interesting. Awesome Hall of Fame additions.
I knew some of those players. I wasn’t aware of some others like Grant Fuhr and Jacques Plante.
French Canadians are the entire top 3. 4 out of 5 of the top 5 and half the top ten. Insane
Wins are not a goalie stat. Much like they are not a QB stat.
800 wins is fucking insane. Doesn’t matter how well you play, you’re only ever going to win one game. Forwards have good games, they get multiple points or goals. And they don’t play 82 games a season.
Cujo is still my favourite. I wish we had somebody like him the past 4 years.
Hasek and Roy were both better
Eddie as a Blackhawk and Loo as a Canuck.. just seems wrong lol
Show fluery with the pens.
Weird seeing Blues Legend Brodeur in a Devils jersey. Must have been his early years in the league.
Surprised that Sawchuck didn’t stick around to break 500 wins, especially with only one win to do it….
11 – Chris Osgood, 475
Weird to use Sawchuk in a Rangers jersey when he had a total of 3 wins for them RS and playoffs
Player =/= team
Goalies occupy 100% of the ice time of 1 of 6 positions so they deserve credit for just above 16% of each win ultimately
Maybe a bit more given other factors, but 83% of each win is determined by a group of 18 players, to varying degrees
Might as well credit each position for a win like LW wins or RD wins or just, yanno, moving beyond the entire concept
Player =/= team
Why is he wearing Red and not Blue?
With the league moving more and more to a tandem in net, this record is guaranteed unbeatable
Hot take, Brodeur had no problem playing 70+ games a gear in the trap era behind a stacked devils defence, definitely give props for his accolades but definitely had an easier ride to do so than others.
