FINALLY, SOME AWESOME CANUCKS NEWS: RICK TOCCHET WINS THE JACK ADAMS AWARD FOR COACH OF THE YEAR
does history bear repeating because the Vancouver kxs had themselves a great announcement today I know I have been very negative every single video we’ve made about the Canucks postgame 7 has been a bad one but we’re finally in for some good conversation because take a look at this the NHL announced today that Rick toet of the Vancouver canu is this year’s Jack Adams Award winner for Coach of the Year in the NHL this of course was not surprising Rick tett goes out there and beats out the competition here he beats out the Andrew brunette and Rick bonis bids that were also there qualifying for this award Rick toet got 82 first place votes for the Jack Adams this year Andrew brunette had eight Rick bonis had five Peter lavet had five noblock had three which is um interesting to see him up there Peter dbor and Dallas had two John Cooper wasn’t even on the list oh no he had zero first place votes six second place votes though but it is interesting here that Rick toet absolutely dominated this award becoming the third Vancouver coach to win the award joining Pat Quinn in 1992 and Elaine Vigo in 2007 and I know what you might be thinking upon reading this I asked it at the beginning will history repeat itself because last time the Vancouver Canucks won this award or the coach of the team won this award they went to the finals 4 years later in 1992 they went to the finals 2 years later so who knows if Rick toet will have the capability of bringing this Vancouver team to the Stanley Cup finals at some point down the line only to lose in game seven and only to have the city of Vancouver light it up up on fire again okay we’re not going to go that far but let’s go out there and talk more so about Rick toet winning the coach of the year because it really does come with no surprises as we had said we knew this was going to happen we knew he was going to win and it’s because of expectation a lot of people thought the Vancouver Canucks would not be a playoff team a lot of people said if they were to make the playoffs it would be in a wild card they’d squeak in they’d have maybe 90 something points they wouldn’t be first in the Pacific Division they wouldn’t have at one point in the season three guys at the top of the entire darn league in points Pon Miller and Hughes all tied they wouldn’t have a 40 goal scorer in Brock besser they wouldn’t have a 100 Point player in JT Miller they wouldn’t have a 90o player in Quinn Hughes Pon declined Point production wise but the team was still fantastic and it’s all about structure structure structure Rick toet was a hard-nosed son of a bee hockey player to go out there and play against you did not want to match up against this dude he could light you up on the score sheet he could light you up in your face by punching it out this was a tough son of a gun and bringing a lot of the principles that made Rick tet a Stanley Cup champion as a player to the Vancouver Canucks as a coach definitely brought a new light into this team that was at one point seen as somewhat of a country club from last year when Bruce Buro came in no disrespect of course to Bruce the guy was a more happy go-lucky players coach kind of guy easygoing fun to talk to good interview Rick toet none of that no he wants efficiency he wanted a lot more stability and let’s just say sternness with the way he views his hockey team and their procedure and it reflects in the way the team was able to play they were a lot more disciplined a lot more structured we’re going to keep on using that word structure structure structure because even in some of the games where the Vancouver Canucks ended up losing they still looked good they still played hard and Rick tett was still lighting a fire under all of these guys behind so the fact that the Vancouver connects were so much better in 23 for than anybody could have ever anticipated is because of Rick toet and what he was able to do by bringing out the best in these players maybe not all of them at all times like we just talked about how El mck have sucked for the second half of the year and how Philip pronic did not really do anything either Rick toet certainly wasn’t perfect but compared to what everybody thought the conu would be capable of doing he was a lot better than expected let’s go out there and read the article here the NHL announced today that the Vancouver conu head coach Rick tet has been named the winner of the Jack Adams which is awarded to the NHL coach a judge to have contributed the most to his team’s success Rick has done a great job bringing in alignment and accountability to our group said Jim Rutherford president of hockey operations from day one he has delivered a clear message about how he want to play and what it means to be a member of the Vancouver Canucks his leadership has really helped us take a step forward this season and I look forward to seeing more progress next year T has created a true partnership between the players coaches and staff said Patrick Aline he has held people accountable and worked very hard in putting a process in place for everyone to follow our Staples and structure will help guide this group for years to come I’m very impressed with the job he has done this season and I’m excited to see what lies ahead for this team under TOS Direction toed in his first full season as head coach led the team to a 5023 and9 record their best regular season since 20112 when they won the gosh darn president’s Trophy and the team’s first division title since 20123 the Canucks finished six in the league in goals four up from 13th last season and tied for fifth in goals against a 20 spot impr improvement over last year and qualified for the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since the 20145 season that’s crazy they don’t even acknowledge the 2020 bubble in this little article here first of all I would like to say thank you to the aquini family jam and patcher for providing me this incredible opportunity said Rick toet this really is a team award and I couldn’t have done any of this without the support of our staff and complete buyin from the players I am truly honored and humbled by this achievement and look forward to getting back to work this summer as we continue to work on improving our hockey team Vancouver is just a passionate hockey market and our fans were a huge part of our success this season the article then says here that 10 players had career Seasons under Rick toet in 2324 including Quinn Hughes who recorded 92 points this season to lead all defensemen set numerous franchise records and was named a finalist for the Norris Trophy meanwhile Thatcher Demco finished with a career-high 35 wins and a 918 save percentage and was named a finalist for the vzna in 556 career games as head coach split between Tampa Bay Arizona and vanc oh man toet was the head coach of Tampa Bay that’s crazy I completely missed that when the hell did that happen toet has amassed a 248 235 and 73 record along with two playoff appearances and two playoff series wins he is also a two-time Stanley Cup champion having one as an assistant coach with the penguins in 20156 and 16117 the scar bro Ontario native was originally hired on January 22nd 2023 as the 21st head coach in franchise history so Rick talk is the guy man he went out there and got this award he deserves the award Jack Adams winner baby Vancouver has gotten themselves yet another one and if you wanted to go to some of the extra stuff I mean we had alluded to this at the beginning of the video but tet is a Stanley Cup champion he did win in when was that the 1992 Stanley Cup that’s exactly what it was as a member of the Pittsburgh no philadelph Pittsburgh Penguins yes excuse me I am getting my Stanley Champions mixed up but Rick tett was a stand the cup winning guy multiple 90o season guy he had a 90o campaign with the flyers in 1990 and then in 100 Point Season with the penguins in 1993 tet has been an absolute monster as a player and then his head coaching record oh yeah he was the head coach of the lightning from 089 to 0910 that’s crazy Tampa Bay then went to the Eastern Conference Finals the very next year after tet was fired that’s crazy but taking a look at this yeah this could be the Legacy stint for Rick toet as a member of the Vancouver Canucks starting in 2223 and extending Beyond so we’ll see where exactly the Canucks go as a hockey team later on in Rick tet’s tenure I have a good feeling that his structure will carry over from year to year if you can see these improvements from year 1 to year 2 just imagine what they can do from 23 24 to 2425 with another full summer of training under toet and a lot of these players knowing what it’s about playing under a rick system so let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about Rick toet winning the Jack Adams award for Coach of the Year not surprising in the slightest but still a good thing to talk about let me know your thoughts in the comments section I hope you enjoyed this v99 and bye

Well deserved!
I'm not surprised he did a hell of a job.
I was surprised to not knoblauch in the 3 finalists when he pulled the oilers out from the slump they were in 100% thought Tocchet would win the trophy though
Well deserved
Totally deserved could not ask for better in all regards
Laviolette's only problem is he's not Canadian. None of the "experts" thought the Rangers would be higher than 3rd in the Metro.
Let’s goOoOoO! 🥰
He definitely deserves it! He's one hell of a coach
