Christian Yelich discusses Blake Perkins’ highlights in the Brewers’ win over the Cubs
how do you describe what he’s doing in center field on an island tonight yeah I mean he pretty much won the game for us on defense and you know not even counting what he did at the play like those those two plays were in um you know definitely the first one against Danby was was huge you know um it’s a really tough play when you’re running that hard at the wall and like everything kind of happens fast so that was a really good play and then um the one against half was unbelievable um different situation obviously but unreal catch and uh he had some great abs early in the game Big Homer for us so um it’s probably the best game I’ve ever seen him play which which is a great time for it yeah what uh you you’ve played with some great center fielders what makes Blake so good at that position uh he’s really good at going back on the ball you know he uh tracks the ball really well he’s comfortable um you know going every direction really and um you know gets great jumps great reads and he’s able to cover a ton of ground out there which you know some of those balls are off the you know from the side or um I’m standing it doesn’t look like it looks like it’s going to be a tough play you know and then you track them down which uh you know the half one’s really really anytime you’re diving head first into the fence at full speed that’s a scary feeling as an outfielder for sure but uh you know just shows like the kind of effort effort that um you know that he he gives out there and was unbelievable night imanaga is probably going to say it wasn’t his sharpest night and you know probably wants that pitch back to you probably wants to run back to Blake but what you think just seeing him for the first time yeah I mean he’s got good stuff I mean it’s baseball right like it’s going to happen and um you know he’s he’s he’s a really good pitcher and um you know just that just happens sometimes and there’s a lot of things in baseball that happen and you just can’t really explain them you know they just they just happen and everybody wants an explanation sometimes and um sometimes there’s really not one and you know I think I think we I think we had some really good at bats we got some pitches to hit and and didn’t really miss them you know we took advantage of our opportunities tonight um we got some hits with some guys on some big ones and you know kind of was the difference
Milwaukee Brewers centerfielder Blake Perkins was the star of the night against the Chicago Cubs in the 10-6 win Wednesday night.
Christian Yelich had a pretty great view of all of Perkins’ heroics in the field and at the plate.
