Jad the marsho until after the they conclude the conclusion however it works out so marsho says last week that there have been no talks between the two sides he also said to the local media in that report that he wanted a new contract at the outset of the news season before the season but was denied and I told you Mr Chris GOC okay you correct now I’m not going to call you cordasco um I told you that vgk would not be outdone they would not be out done on leveraging or whatever uh lo and behold one of the maid men I believe leaked the news to the fourth period and NHL network and David pagata in a Friday report report so Tony five o’cl it might have been later uh so pacata says the priority for vgk vgk is to lock marsho into a new contract and the two sides will have contract negotiations within a week’s time this was back on last Friday so essentially vgk is now negotiating everything thing through the media I believe as after marsho comes out now the counter from vgk oh no we’re working on it within a week’s time we’re going to get together but good for marsho to get the ball rolling here as he’s trying to get a new contract from the Vegas golden knights there’s one thing one thing that I know and the rest of the media in this town knows the golden knights care very deeply about the perception of their Pres of their pressage what’s looking for of their image of their image of their image they really care about how their image looks precious image that’s what I was trying to get to it’s early and got a throat thing going on but it’s okay we’ll get through this so marcheso makes some comments someone inside the vgk gives yl Network a little taste a little bite of uh something coming up and the fact that this is starting to go through the media is very interesting so gold Knights have about 5.9 million to work with right now before they make any other moves 5.9 million that’s only for one free agent in Jonathan marcheso if that ends up being the path marcheso is going to get higher than 5.9 million aav whether it’s in Vegas or whether it’s elsewhere that’s a foregone conclusion if he takes less than 5.9 he’s a fool I don’t care if he’s given a HomeTown deal that that that’s better than a HomeTown deal if he takes 5.9 or less where I’m going with this ultimately is I don’t know how it works before this before the free agency period happens but there’s a window where a team can exceed the salary cap but there’s a certain timetable in which they have to make a deal to get under that salary cap I think and again I could be wrong I’m going back to the Nate Schmidt trade that happened when petrangelo was signed the team had to move on from Nate Schmidt very very quickly to make sure they were compliant with whatever the rules were of the cap in that circumstance I feel like that’s once free agency starts but I could be off on that if I am I’m sorry point being with all this is Kelly McMan MC Foley whoever have not s sat Jonathan B so down and said listen we cannot do this deal right now because of the salary cap something else has to happen and then we can work out an extension that conversation has not happened that’s the concern so did maro’s comments get the attention of McMan and MC of course there they they they would never say as such but this goes back to their precious image that’s what I was trying to say earlier precious image the golden knights like you said they’re they’re not going to be outdone and they do care about the perception of their image as it comes through the media and trust me I’ve learned I’ve learned personally about that over the last year or so since my involvement with the team and some of it’s very positive and some is not so very positive and you have Jonathan marcheso right now the most beloved vgk there is I can assure you I can assure you that if a deal is not struck between the golden knights and Jonathan marcheso sure you’ll get the future endeavors you’ll get the we’re thankful of everything he did blah BL blah blah blah but don’t think for a second that there will not be things leaked through various webs through various branches of the media putting this on marcheso wanting maybe a little bit more or marcheso being greedy the team will not they’re going to do their best not to come out looking bad in this and you look at the flurry situation the team made it a point to make sure that was more about the agent and and all that versus you know any other reason that Mark that um Mark Andre flurry was you know basically traded for for nothing he was traded for it was a seventh it was a nobody Prospect who the team cut immediately so the team gold Knights are going to do what they can to come out looking good in this no matter how ugly it gets okay so you have marcho goes to the local media gets national attention bgk says hold my beer and then they go directly to pegat and the NHL Network which obviously is very powerful and National in scope although the local media did not pick up on this yet as of this morning uh but I don’t understand why again we go back back to mccrimon we’re not going to negotiate this in the media you’ll hear about it when all said and done why was vgk reactionary in this case obviously the golden knights leaked this information to pegada and the NHL Network why reactionary you have the medeval Empire I’ll take the golden image I’ll raise you the golden image that’s what this is about right now this is about the golden knights and their image this is about the golden Knights doing what they can to save face if a deal is not struck like let’s be clear a deal might get struck I mean it’s I know we’re going pretty hard at the team but to be clear mccrimon has stated as such and I buy what he’s saying at face value he wants marcheso to remain a golden Knight Bruce Cassidy even said it the other day um he wants marchie to stay and marcheso has been very clear maybe a little bit too clear about um how hard he has worked to keep himself in seller Nevada so let’s make sure we’re completely clear about that that said the path to that happening is not entirely reasonable unless marcheso is going to consider far less than face value so the team can keep assets like sheay Theodore Andor Braden McNab or if the team does wind up extending marcheso for his what what what what did um they give him like 6.25 I think was the no you and I both think his projection is going to be is off on that he’s going to get closer to $7 million in Vegas or elsewhere and if that’s going to happen the golden knights are going to have to shed about a four to6 million do player who is still under contract which really I mean it’s not William Carlson he ain’t going nowhere that’s safe Ivan barbashev I don’t think Tony Tony’s day is ruined um Ivan barbashev I don’t think the team could get enough back in return to Warrant ties with him um so really is going to leave Braden McNab who’s are unsung hero unsung hero played all2 games last year how can the team move on from him and would he bring enough back in a trade I don’t think so that leaves you shay Theodore who still has a lot of upside and we’ve both been very clear about our perspectives on his play through the season and uh his wife’s uh social media his wife’s poor social media game over the last uh couple of Seasons so Shay theod might be the collateral damage if marches so does get extended I’m starting to wonder who has the upper hand in at the bargaining table who will have the upper hand obviously vgk holds all the cards however Mar maro’s got a ton of Leverage that’s what I was about to say and Pat bran is not a rookie to this game he’s negotiated the top deals in the NHL so I’m gonna say Marsh or so goes in there and when they heard him speak out they were like uh okay we at least in good faith have got to try something is that the case I think so I mean it it before you get to what’s going to happen this week the bigger concern is what hasn’t happened and Maro himself called this literally just over a year ago when he was in Montreal with his uh day with the cup he said the team likes to take their time with it we’ll see what happens and you know he he said more than that but point is he saw this coming and I what I wonder now Tony is that statement he made I think it was like early July last year after he was after um free agency had already started and everything I wonder if he had gone to the team sometime before that that statement was made and like hey let’s talk and the team basically shut him down then and that’s why he said what he said to the Montreal media so who has the upper hand is obviously marcheso because there’s a line of teams there’s probably four to five teams that will offer him 7 million or greater with three to four years term and honestly if someone comes knocking on the door with 6.5 for you know four to five seasons I think that’s a lot but if someone says hey we’ll take a chance on you for five years at 6.5 I don’t think Vegas can match match that term I don’t think so I could be wrong I think I think Vegas matches that I’m just trying to think out loud here but didn’t Marsha so go to Pat pran within the last year didn’t he switch agents or no I has he always been with him we’ll have to I know there were some comments that were somewhat leaked in the end of March by brisan and it was all calculated it’s all it’s all verbal Warfare about you know the situation and such but I don’t know if he’s switched agents or not why they say that they’ve met that they’ve met already and they’ve been talking when we know that they have it it was a weird comment but now you look he he was laying the tracks he he was laying the wood right for what what’s about to come and marus already did that last off season and um yeah it’s um it’s a new week and vgk still still um never ceases to amaze us in the in the news Department even when nothing’s happening well there is stuff happening obviously and so they leaked this out to the NHL Network because pegat said according to the golden kns correct so he checked his sources spoke to someone within the now I woke up my throat was just terrible yeah it’s horrendous uh very dry here in the desert and also dry was news from vgk until Friday uh that’s when the NHL network and David pagata came out with this report and we told you about marsho in that first segment and obviously the word came from vgk the Golden Nights need to stay on top of the headlines uh Chandler Stevenson we want to talk about him for a moment pegat reports that vgk will also begin negotiations with him soon uh Stevenson did not have a great season he had just 51 points his lowest output since prior to 2022 um he had 64 65 points in the previous uh two seasons and according to those projections we told you last week he wants to either double or triple his salary to over $5 million yeah I mean Stephenson the the projection that daily Faceoff put out there according to a analytics orics there we go I wanted to make sure I site site the sources site the sources what was it again a FPA analytics with an at symbol in front of it aha there you go all right so Chandler Stevenson they’re projecting five time 5.6 um I don’t think it’s the wrong number I mean I think you can confidently pencil him in for 50 to 55 to 60 points obviously situation pending and you say he didn’t have as good of a season last year I’m with you on that but it was might maybe the quietest 50 points in the history of the Vegas golden knights he had some injury issues obviously he um I’d be curious to look at how many of his points came prior to Mark Stone exiting the lineup and then obviously things changing there um that’s going to be Stevenson’s biggest thing I think when people sit down to negotiate with them it’s like hey he did a great job with Mark Stone you know who on this lineup is our is is our Mark stone that we can match you up with then that can possibly uh negatively impact his value a little bit and I guess the the jonan marcheso tie in is interesting here does the team make an aggressive move to retain Chandler Stevenson if it seems like it’s going to be difficult to extend Jonathan maraso and I mean I think the answer is no I just think it’s too crowded down the center I know you can never have too many centers but when you’re top four when your top three centers end up being eel hurdle Carlson where does that leave Stevenson and you still got Nicholas W who is better than a fourth line Center and Brett Howen who could chip in down on the fourth line if they want Nick W to explore becoming a Winger so I don’t see a path to Stevenson I definitely don’t see a path for Stephenson in Vegas at 5.6 million whether it’s two years or four years or anything in between hypothetically what if vgk signs Stephenson to a deal first what type of a signal does that send to maraso and to his camp Oh you said you teed me up for this one you mean the signal when Kelly McMan in his exit speech said well we don’t negotiate with players when we’re in a playoff push and then they signed one Noah Hanahan to the biggest bag of his entire career eight times whatever the number was over 56 million dollar or something for whatever the number was which came out 33 days after the trade deadline before the golden knights officially qualified for the postseason so I I’ll say it again mccm pissed all over I don’t know if I can say that but I did he pissed all over Maro with that comment unfortunately and no one caught it in real time I’ve talked to a few of the media people around town and like none of us caught it in real time but when we watched the tape back we’re like wait a minute and no one got a chance maybe question for next training camp if uh if I’m allowed back I might be a podcaster sometimes a journalist but I caught it I think you and I were going back and forth um any surprise that the NHL Network said that according to the golden knights vgk not expected to resign this is they’re playing this all out through the media great they are not expected to resign Michael amadio William carrier ker and Anthony mantha Kier only played what 39 games this past season due to injuries he’s had a career uh year the cup season back uh a couple of years ago now with 25 points and we now are going to add these three players to the future endeavors list I like that future endeavors list I like that um starting with Kier I guess um Kier I mean as a fourth liner if he was healthy if he didn’t have health issues year in and year out he could be one of the most dangerous fourth line players in the league who could flirt with being a 20 goal scorer I mean that’s a crazy ceiling for someone who is an energy guy in the fourth line he was pacing 20 goals last season uh the Stanley Cup season before the injuries happened and his projection if I I got you got to scroll really far down to find him yeah he’s way on the bottom I think I didn’t even see Max p fr’s on the bottom along with my two dumpster dive finds and Kevin LeBlanc and Victor olivon where is Carrie on this list I didn’t see him on there he’s he’s got top 7 closer um Anthony man Anthony mantha comes in at 39 25 what’s that a do25 yeah no they’re they’re saying mantha’s gonna gonna get 4.7 a year that’s what uh good luck and good riddens yeah definitely good luck 47 a year what yeah no um I’m with you on that right there yeah I didn’t I forgot about that one yeah no I mean that’s they they were hoping they were hoping that it was going to end up being yeah Will car is not on this list so he not one of he’s looking to be under a million dollars which I think he’s a good a good not for the golden knights given their did you check under both carrier and Carri a uh I didn’t put the little Dash over the eye was I supposed to do that M perhaps is that the French version no I knew told William Kier will have a line of people you know he’ll the nice thing about ker is his value is going to give him the option I will bet there’s no less than 10 teams that will kick the tires on will car a million at a million at a million yeah and whether I guess the biggest decision for will Cary he’s going to have to make is does he take a I don’t know a four times 1.3 deal or something like that or does he take a bridge deal for a team like Edmonton you know a team that who could end up making an you know a Stanley Cup run is there an opportunity in Dallas is there an opportunity with Florida I mean all these teams that are currently in the conference final or a team like Colorado take that bridge deal have a healthy season and he can you know double or triple his value or does he just lock up a $5 million bag for three years and call it good I can I can see it going both ways and we’ve also talked about amadio on this show and he’s going to be expecting a lot more money maybe three times I thought think is the it’s three times as much as his current salary yeah I mean we talked about that a little bit Brett Howen makes what 1.8 1.9 something like that there’s not a world that exists where amadio is going to take less than Brett Howen money although Bret Howen has his own line Tony but there’s not a world that exists where where amadio is gonna stay in Vegas for less than what Brett Howen makes amadio again Swiss ARB knife in the lineup can play anywhere I’m sure the viewers are tired of me saying that but that’s the reality and I think amadio might be in a similar spot as as will carry he’ll get paid a little bit more obviously but does he take a bridge deal try and catch on with a team that’s going to have some visibility or does the San Jose come knock on the door hey we got some money to spend here’s you know here’s four times three because we gotta make sure we hit the cap floor and you got players like Logan coie and Will Smith and everything like that to play with so curious to see how things play out with amadio but he’s not getting $3 million to stay in Vegas in any way shape or form and again VG with hardly any cap space how much did you say about 5.9 it’s 5.9 which includes all the ltir stuff with with um lonard it’s not going to add in our 5 million after that they’re at 5.9 million um but again the Cap’s going to go up another three three and a half four million nexton as well so if the golden knights can find a way I mean this is why I go back to saying this this upcoming season it’s going to be tough for vgk to end up as a cup Contender I think this ends up being a very small rebuild situation and then going forward to the 2526 season is when the team really comes out looking for their possibly last cup of going back to the Woodcraft era and then signing na block without a lick of NHL experience but noblock made Moves he made Moves when it matter they weren’t always the right move like putting pick Calvin Picard in there I don’t know if it was the right move but he made the move he’s not afraid he’s not afraid this moment is not going to be too big for him and Paul Maurice uh Paul Maurice is going to have his hands full I think as far as the coaching side of this goes um o I think are about to become an extremely tough out and a big problem in the West for a long time they’re winning two to one hockey games with steuart Skinner in that Tony that’s that’s it I arest my case they’re winning two to one games with steuart Skinner and net one of the analysts said that the reason why Skinner is more effective now he would come out to the puck he’s going more East West going laterally and he’s not taking chances there to try to shut down the puck and he’s done a terrific job and Michael Amadio, William Carrier, and Anthony Mantha have been reportedly told they will not receive a contract extension offer from VGK. The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers are set to meet in the Stanley Cup Final.
