The Belfast Giants have announced the signings of Americans Joe Cassetti and Zak Galambos from Western Michigan University.

Cassetti, a 25 year old winger from California transferred to the Bronchos after 3 years in Miami University, Ohio. In the 122 NCAA games played the 6’4” winger scored 26 goals and 24 assists for an even 50 points seeing him at a 0.41 PPG, as well as notching 67 PIMs and a questionable +/- of -25. In the 2023/24 season, Cassetti recorded 8 goals and 9 assists in 38 games for the Bronchos in what is statistically one of his best stat lines of his university career as he notched only 8 PIMs and a +/- of a more reasonable -2.

Galambos, a 27 year old defender from California also, stayed with the Bronchos for all 4 years of his university tenure where he recorded 29 goals and 61 assists in 133 games giving him a 0.68 PPG. A less disciplined player than Cassetti as he recorded a total of 138 PIMs but can be ignored as he carries a more impressive +57 +/-. Before beginning his university career, the 6’2” d-man spent some time in the NAHL, USHL and BCHL between 2014-2018 which gives him an upper hand in experience.
