uh first the golden knights apparently tanked they tank the final game of the regular season losing to the Ducks 4 to one to avoid playing the Oilers in the postseason uh they became the second wild card would much rather face Peter dor and the Dallas Stars and from last season from last season uh you brought it again up to my attention in the Cup Final a season ago remember this PowerPoint presentation that Sean Burke put together how to beat bosski so what was included in that PowerPoint you have to beat Bob upstairs with something that I recall he crouches down low to find pucks and even Shay Theodore went upstairs and scored a goal what else do you remember from that infamous powerpint presentation um I wasn’t there so I don’t know what the PowerPoint presentation had but I know the golden knights got a lot of goals in the the three home games what were the the last game obviously was nine goals I feel like the first and second game were they both like five and six spots they were high whatever they were I’ll look at the scores later um so there was definitely something in the water or something in that PowerPoint presentation or something in the injuries with the injuries at Florida yeah no no Florida definitely didn’t have didn’t have chemistry too um it was really like just crash in the net I think was a big thing you saw a lot of traffic and you did mention injuries obviously knocking gutus out definitely made a big difference as far as net front net front presence on the defensive side for the Florida Panthers so crash in the Nets and I mean I don’t know if it was as much about bosi not playing well because I mean he’s a world class goal he played really well and he definitely showed it he’s not a he’s not a flash in the pen Sony he’s not a flash in the pen as he got Florida back to the final this season and he’s had a lot of good runs prior to uh the last two years as well so do you put it as much on that PowerPoint presentation or was it just the the high danger shots that the golden night I mean just every every rush in the playoffs last year felt like it was connecting I’m not just saying because the last game was 9 to3 or whatever that final score was but every time vgk had the puck on their stick and they had a little bit of speed through the neutral zone they were getting a high danger chance sure sha bur gets a lot of credit for whatever that PowerPoint presentation had but I think the totality of the situation was the odd man rushes and just everything was clicking last year in the playoffs starting with injuries which apparently meant there was no issues with chemistry well it brings me to the point to who can make a PowerPoint presentation Shan Burke did he do it by himself did he in turn help him Cassidy I don’t think has PowerPoint skills McMan definitely not MC not a chance not a chance at all uh it’s hard to score when Bob is low to the ground and moving laterally I just recall what uh Bruce Cassidy had said at that point and again to your point more netfront presence something that vgk lacked overall this past season yeah I mean Bowski going back you you talked about the lateral movement and stuff um Logan Thompson and barowski I think do have a lot of commonalities in the way they play the position um both of them sometimes cheat a little bit as far as maybe a selling out for to one side hopeing that’s where the shots going to come from but they also as far as selling out goes both of them have no quits they have no quit until that puck is in the Nets and there are so many saves over the last couple Seasons where you can look at Logan Thompson just not quitting on the play giving every ounce of every muscle of every whatever energy he has left and whatever body part he can get over to make that save and bosi is pretty much the same type of goenda there’s a little bit of Mark Andre flurry going on there as far as a little bit of the positioning issues but you can cheat if you can get back quickly and get across so I think that’s something that I do remember really well about barowski now we’re talking about the scoring chances and things like that can the Edmonton Oilers who have a much more potent offense than the Vegas golden knights ever has and that power play so will the will the Edmonton Oilers find creative ways to score I know there’s a lot of people you know calling the series over and me and Tony love have predictions in the second segment as what we think’s going to happen but if the Edmonton Oilers can just take a page out of what Vegas did last last year Edmonton can have a lot of success here so shoot top shelf that is the key here and I don’t know if it’s still W waves waves coming waves shoot top shelf I was what it didn’t say waves in there uh maybe they had a picture of the beach or something on page number four of this presentation I’m just curious how many pages this actually was Vander Kane Cory Perry if he draws in get their butts get their booties in front of the net keeg and Cole are in big booties big booties they’ll definitely uh cause a Ruckus down there it’s going to be so much fun to watch did William Carlson sto Conor McDavid in last year’s Cup playoffs or did the former coach Jay woodc just not put McDavid in the best position to succeed oh no this is when South Beach Bruce even compared Vegas Bjorn to Patrice berson you remember that but I think his very own coach because he was a I can’t say that word um but not a very bright dude through Conor McDavid under the bus and then he started playing these games and wouldn’t put McDavid on the ice the same time as Carlson and eventually eventually McDavid would have broken through there just not good coaching listen Jay Woodcraft is not was not the man for the job as we learned now Jay woodc Cross firing yeah I mean it needed to happen but there was other things happening where you you’re not going to hang the entire early shortcomings of the Oilers on Woodcraft and even Oilers fans will tell you that that said they’re happy that it worked out like that for obvious reasons um I remember talking to William Carlson last year’s Stanley Cup media day about the comments that woodc made about trying to keep McDavid off the ice when William Carlson was out there and stuff like that stupid the best player in the world best player in the world well listen I know it’s tough for you Tony but William Carlson does need to get some credit he does have a history of not just shut shutting down no one shuts down McDavid let’s not mince words here but Carlson does have a history of doing well against top centers in this league and whatever line only the only thing that Carlson has ever shut down is the Swedish meatball um stand at Ikea shut up Tony so I’ve been saving that one um listen Carlson I know it’s tough Tony But You Gotta Give Carlson some well you don’t gotta bash Carlson in this segment but I’m not gonna bash him I know that well part of the reason why for my ey is just that the media People Media air quote people in this city went way overboard with the kiss up for William Carlson last listen Jay Woodcraft put it Jay Woodcraft pardon me put stupid that’s bad why would your coach even say anything about that’s why he was awful he was no I’m with you 100% but um back to the the spirit of the segment Spirit of the C of segment spirit Spirit of the segment um do the Florida Panthers have a player that can have the effect on Conor McDavid that William Carlson did is is barov that player um is is Bennett that player is Sam Reinhardt that player I don’t think like a Nick cousins is that player if he even draws into to the to the to the lineup we’ll see I know there’s some injury issues going on there so that’s obviously going to be Edmonton’s opportunity to try and find creative ways to put McDavid into plus situations and not that McDavid needs any help but in the Stanley Cup Playoffs you definitely Stanley Cup Final that’s where noblock obviously is going to have to do a much better job than Woodcraft ever has in the playoffs to take advantage of advantageous circumstances with Conor McDavid it’s not just McDavid you got Newen Hopkins you got Zack Heyman you got Evander Kane you got uh players defensive side yeah I say dry Sidle geez took me how long you see good dry Sidle out there right and no that was a good defense I guess for William Carlson last year job Tony in the playoffs last year anything else the oers and Panthers teams can learn from vgk I mean that’s about it I mean on both sides just recapp and obviously having a player that can have an effect on MC Dave and maybe it’s not like a William Carlson type maybe it is just uh you know Sam Bennett out there just trying to rough him up all the time maybe that’s what’s going to need to happen I think this is where they might miss uh Radco goodas from last year to just uh you know remind McDavid he doesn’t want to hang out by the net I mean I know players have tried that but that might be important and on the other side I mean oil got to come in waves Oilers got to come in waves to get those scoring opportunities Jimmy Fallon they show pictures right with a description of what they think these players might do or what their uh lives are they showed his picture and they said most likely to be a former child actor who threw up and got arrested outside of a gas station as they put up Tobias borf foot Vegas bjornfot uh they put up his photo there but he’s not playing right I don’t think he’ll be playing uh but uh you know it’s great news for especially Matias Yanmar who just seems to always be around the puck yeah I mean listen Yanmar you look at his path after so quired uh I don’t know if they traded from the Blackhawks or no it was an in season acquisition so 2020 21 Matias Yanmar joins the Vegas golden knights 15 games just Five Points um playoffs though this is where uh very he had a very notable achievement so first of all 16 games eight points but game seven against the Minnesota Wild dude gets a hattrick I still remember having um taking a video from across the ice pointed at um at Foley McMan MC as they’re all kind of high-fiving and chopping it up when they won that game I’m just wondering what McMan is saying to MC and Foley as uh the the trade deadline acquisition gets a hatti to to help the golden knights move on uh season I think they I think they did a PowerPoint about that they probably did a power point um 67 games 25 points for Yan Mark The Following season and then um goes to the Oilers he even had to spend some time with Bakersfield in the AHL and then I mean he’s he’s just around he’s a decent player that can certainly get something done and uh maybe Brett Howen with a little more a little more skill I don’t know okay and about this series Florida currently is a minus 140 favorite last I saw on FanDuel uh the Panthers have beaten these goalies vasileski swan shesterkin in order so how do they lose to Stuart Skinner I mean the Oilers beats the combination of Logan and Aiden um and then just recently they beat ainger who who who the Edmonton have in the second round uh that was Vancouver okay know that was a weird situation but uh but she was doing really well so I mean Third String Goalie third string third of course that’s fair but steuart Skinner I mean listen let’s fantasy football here for a second you need to separate the name from the stats and when I say that is that’s usually meant for players who are bigger names who are on the decline but they’re such a sexy name you have to have them on their Ro on your roster I mean Skinner 897 it’s not the worst I guess or no is this this is not playoff numbers these are playoff these are not playoff numbers I got get his play no these are his playoff numbers okay 897 in the playoffs 114 and one two five old goals against it’s not the sexiest but Edmonton’s still winning games two to one right now so we’ve talked about we I know at some point we talked about Stanley Cup winning teams who have had a worldclass goalie on their team and yes it’s important but it’s not I mean Aiden Hill is not a world class goalie he played world class in the Stanley in the Stanley Cup playoffs last year um not a world class goalie um guau or no C guau right or keer who was the won the cup with uh with Colorado it wasn’t no it was keer keer okay so keer wins the keer wins the Stanley Cup I mean the list goes on I mean Matt Murray is a Stanley Cup winner not not necessarily a world class goalie sure vasileski obviously has done a big part in getting the team there as uh right now babowski is so I’m not saying it’s important to have that world class goalie but steuart Skinner’s been fine so far and I don’t think at the end of this playoff series win l or Draw this this will hang on steuart Skinner by any means uh the travel in this series it’s the furthest distance of any Cup Final in NHL history it’s going to take over five and a half hours of just airtime uh to get from one point to the other and later in this series I think the fatigue Factor has to definitely set in they’ve had some time obviously to prepare for game number one one but as the series gets into the later stages the latter stages if you will I think the travel is going to be a big factor in this series what are your thoughts no I mean it’s Stanley Cup Final I don’t think there’s going to be any anything that the put on a stinking PowerPoint bro and just build out if you the players can get up for the Stanley Cup Final no matter what no matter what so you mentioned Calvin peard earlier here here here’s an angle for you before we get too deep but Calvin peard had a good season I mean he got 23 appearances put up a 909 save percentage 245 goals against Picard’s a UFA at the end of this year I know he’s probably G to get paid more than he ever has in his career but uh I mean might be another might be a fun wrench to throw into the vgk mix for next season talk about that not again what’s he he played the one game right in that Vancouver series I think he played just one time he got three game he’s got three appearances in the playoffs I believe oh he does okay he has three appearances I don’t know how many of those are starts he has a one in one record so I’m assuming two starts I’m assuming two starts okay and then one yank uh never talked about Nick cousins I’m not sure what his situation is oh yeah Nick cousins no he’s he’s playing yeah but he’s not in the line combinations on daily faceof so I’m not sure if he’s fighting an injury right now or what’s going on obviously the team has been practicing all week today is the media day so there might be a little more information but I mean Nick cousins I mean he’s certainly done a decent job since Leaving Vegas right I mean he’s always going to score you know 8 nine 10 goals chip in 13 15 assists and uh definitely uh muck it up out there and cause some trouble another player who um you know better to have him on your team than playing against him I guess wtm what the muck what the muck if I was still in the poker industry that’d be a great podcast be a great podcast actually named what the muck top four picks of the 2014 draft will be on display in this series the top four this is so such a rarity right so you have dry CLE from the oil oh yeah cats Aaron eblad Sam Reinhardt and Sam Bennett what are the odds of that happening and I went back I don’t think that any any other vgk player came out of that 14 draft other than I think Ivan barbashev I think was in the second round of that draft but you have to look should be on your napkin already or on your PowerPoint presentation yeah Patrick Kane I was 2010 or 2000 when maybe the 2013 right around then when the when the Chicago Blackhawks made the Stanley Cup Final meeting a very young Conor McD David um Jack eel Noah Hanahan it was just such a cool video those guy they they all look so young McDavid was actually smiling and like having a good time and yeah McDavid he’s just he’s so uptight he’s got to just needs to smile more dud dude’s about not uptight when he was with that other girl stepping out in the streets that time he was drunk uh he was very drunk uh drunk the matchup Florida 5v5 has done very well and uh Edmonton’s special teams will or should be a factor in this series be a factor be l or Draw they’ll be a factor power play was on fire and 28 straight kills defensively for the EDM wait is this the same Oilers team that uh we’ve become accustomed to know they win two to one games crazy they win two to one games it’s all about power points bro their defense plays well we doing predictions really predicted the Oilers to win the cup so Oilers on paper I don’t think are the best team I think there’s a lot of tangibles that Florida has that makes them better on paper but I just think McDavid if it’s possible if it’s possible for McDavid to show us something he never has before I think it’s going to start in about 36 hours from right now we’re going to see something amazing from McDavid so give me Oilers give me uh raising the Stanley Cup and six games on Canadian soil Edmonton Oilers me and Chris are on the same side there okay I said at the start of the Season that a Canadian team would be hoisting the cup and then I came back though right before the playoffs you recall I said a team from the East would win you said a team from the west and so but however I am just right I’m we’re told that NHL teams are lining up to sign marches so I agree paraphrase paraphrase paraphrase but that’s not the reality because of the salary cap I’ll stop it right there so and then oh what salary cap yeah exactly Sam also went on to say um uh that McMan McMan basically has the upper hand is what I is the way I read in this here so my response to that is number one the salary cap is going up by over7 and a half $8 million in the next two seasons right freebie this was on the power this was on the PowerPoint so number one Sam jonette also went on to say sure but the 10 teams that might line up to sign marches so are San Jose and Anaheim and teams that have all this cap space because they’re not going anywhere well no that’s not the case there are at least 10 to 12 to 15 contending teams out there that would throw a three to fouryear term in March or so for between 6 and half and $8 million oh okay maybe San Jose is the team that throws $8 million but there are other contending teams out there that I am sure will go a four time 7.5 no questions asked they will make room they will make room it could be ltir it could be trading someone else teams will make room contending teams will make room for marches so he will be probably the second or third most coveted free agents maybe a little deeper but he will be a very highly touted free agent that will end up on a contending team if the gold Knights do not make a deal with him a couple more really fast so again we’re talking about um this is a response to the best vgk team ever quoting this is from Joseph uh lentur I hope I said your name right quoting the late and great herbrooks I’m not looking for the best players I’m looking for the right ones the results this season speak volume so good one it wasn’t
