when the Rangers played the devils in the Eastern Conference Finals in 1994 the series followed the exact same trajectory you may have seen that last night on the broadcast you may have just known that because you’re a ranger fan you may have just heard that because a friend told you that but here’s the question I have cuz I’m all for parallels I’m all for believing hey this is 1994 no big deal we lost a game five at Madison Square Garden we did the same thing in 1994 I’m all in on that I get it I understand it but I want to take you back to 1994 and I want you to bring it to 2024 quote we’re going to go in there and win unquote and then that quote one of the most famous quotes in New York Sports history was backed up by a hatrick that of course came from the great Mark Messier my question right off the top and we’ll get into the game we’ll get into the moment where I knew the Rangers were screwed we’ll get into Sea’s feelings of being at Madison Square Garden we’ll get to Tiki’s thoughts and when he knew the Rangers were screwed and of course we’ll talk to you but the most important question is who’s going to be the guy that maybe doesn’t say we’re going to go in there and win but who’s the star player on this freaking hockey team who’s essentially going to say get on my back fellas I got you who’s that guy if this is 1994 Tiki if this is 1994 Sean I’ll play the game let’s play the game I mean who’s Mark Messier who the heck is Mark Messier I mean it better be Chris krider is it is that your answer better be it better be the guy who had a hat trick in this series or in this playoff and had a shorty last night had a shorty last night finally getting points in fact they got two points four points out of the two of them on that first line so it better be Chris krider because who else is it going to be the problem for the Rangers and it’s felt this way this entire series is that they’re having trouble scoring they getting they’re getting some opportunities as a result you’re putting all of the pressure on eigor shurin now sherin’s been fantastic he left up a softy last night but you are we killing the guy letting up a softy you’re right they have to how much they have to pick him up how much can he carry on on his own and I mean you’re right about Mark Messier not being walk not walking through the door and coming to save the Rangers but you also got to remember back in 1994 when it was we’re going to go in there and we win you could say that because you have to do it you know what I mean is anyone in that room going to do that but you have to do it like you can say it and if it doesn’t happen it’ll be forgotten in history but if you say it and you actually go do it because you desperately need to go do it you look like the hero well not only did Mark Messier do it he backed it up so I I guess the question I have is and Chris cder’s a fine answer because he did have the natural hatrick when they needed him the most in that series against Carolina does anybody out there as a DI hard Ranger fan think that cuz who’s your best player besides eor who’s your best skater on this team I think the answer is artmi panan right is does anybody in their right mind think ouri panarin is going to do that is he markier sure he can can he sure he can he they got to stop playing on the back skate though he looked way more assertive last night flying around the ice getting unities I don’t know if that was just me from up above watching in the building but he looked like artmi panan last night to me oh yeah he did how many goals he scored last night look he didn’t get him how many goals he had so far in the postseason recently you’re right you’re right but I’ll ask you is ouri paner and Mark massier no I think Tiki hit it and I think he told us last night it’s Chris cder the task mail going back to Florida down three games to two but knowing that your squad has always played well on the road it’s always played well in these situations win a game on there one game play our best game and give ourselves a chance that’s that’s the a closest we got EV and I’m rallying behind it win a game he sounded like the caller we had at the end of the show who was like yeah I think we’re going to go out there and we’re going to win and we’re gonna do and crder is going to score to be fantastic he sounded very T that was a very T that is Mark Messier you know minus 5,000 look the Rangers can win this series I don’t think Ranger fans should be giving up was last night damaging sure was last night frustrating sure but I’ve heard 1994 until it comes out of my eyes I’ve heard it from Shawn I’ve heard it from a lot of Ranger fans and look I buy a lot of it I see the parallels to 1994 but that’s the big difference you had a man not just a man a stly cup winning man who walked into this door and had the confidence to say get on my back and look when you try to analyze why they’re down 3-2 there’s a lot of reasons but one of the biggest reasons is that the stars of this team hasn’t performed to the level that they’re capable of so as they face a backs to thewall scenario Saturday night in Sunrise Florida who’s that guy you think it’s Chris krider you think paner no actually I think it’s Alex sailor offer who will truthfully and guess what game 6 1994 everybody talks about the Messier hatrick the last goal being an empty n it all starts down two nothing because alexe kovalev scores that goal in the second period and this team’s alexe kovalov has been alexe lafranier and kovalov had two assists on those Messier goals lafranier continues to be the most strong player they’ve had with the puck in this series and just because it’s not going to align perfectly that you need a guy and issue a guarantee and have a hatrick in the third period I mean would it be nice if someone great Tiki it would be absolutely great going to tell the ranger whoever it is Chris krier lafier whoever it is guarantee it just I’m I’m being honest I’m being real go out there and do it go out there and do it and do it with confidence because you know what if you’re wrong everyone’s going to forget it they’re gonna they’re going to say all right whatever you lost the Series they’re gonna forget it but if you’re right Allah Jim fossil if you’re right you become a hero Allah Messier you become a hero don’t guarantee it because so because you if you do it everybody says look at the legend that you created and you backed it up and by the way there’s something too like putting yourself out there as an athlete like saying something like that it almost makes you have to take your game to another level well it’s funny because Chris krider said something similar to that except he did it privately in the series against Carolina where he basically told his teammates I’m going to go score he did he said I got one in me that’s what he said I got one in me right I need somebody else and he end up getting a hat trick up with three right I think that while that’s cool and all saying it to everybody out there probably makes a bigger deal makes a bigger impact it makes us care more it makes us hear it louder look ultimately it makes us expect it from him I think that’s what that’s the difference ultimately here’s the real difference between 1994 and today the difference is and the Rangers are a tremendous hockey team and I thought through the first two periods last night against Florida where I disagreed with Sean for a while about this I thought it was close but I would give them the edge on outplaying the Florida Panthers in the first two periods of this game last night third period far different story yeah the Rangers are an ultra talented hockey team I don’t trust their Stars the way I trusted those Stars our tamy panan had a monster year this year there’s no denying it the guy scored 49 goals and 120 points he statistically had one of the great Seasons a New York Ranger has ever had do you really trust him yeah I do why because he is that just Blind Faith No he got us here Evan and I’m sorry this is the first time I have to give you credit you actually sound like a ranger fan today Evan I sound like ier fan if you were a ranger fan or a ranger hater today going around do you really believe in artmi paner and do you really believe in man M zaban Jad you are softer than the players you’re calling out man was this ever going to be easy Evan we have been in a drought since 2011 in this town and winning a championship we’ve been 30 years as Ranger fans in a drought that may not seem that long to other teams but is freaking long this was never going to be easy and this team and these players that you’re doubting now you know why we loved them all year because they made things look easy that’s how they got to the president’s trophy there was never games in doubt that’s how they swept the capitals that’s how they built the three-oh lead on Carolina so for the first time all season long the team feels like the backs are truly against the wall and every body from fans to haters to the players seems to want to say they’re going to crumble I trust those guys because I know in that room they believe in each other and how dare we doubt them after all year they provided these off against I’m going to give you see I’m going to argue with facts not emotion because I’m not a ranger fan our Tami panan hasn’t scored a goal since early in the Carolina series there’s a guy who scored 40 goals this past here there’s a guy who’s disappeared in the postseason before I hear that I say do Evan I say do dude I’m not did he look like a better player last night did he put a b did he put a puck behind big did they get did they did he put one past Bob or no did they get eliminated last night I never said they got eliminated last night okay so this is my point he didn’t put a puck past Big Bob’s sisters ass whatever last night he didn’t Chris crrider did he didn’t pan Aon but I saw what I saw from ma the game before while everybody’s counting how many goals they haven’t scored I’m seeing a different player than I saw early in the series where the Rangers were lucky enough to stash two wins in their pocket and I think the best our tamy paner and Ranger moment is Yet to Come and I’m on it he’s scoring tomorrow night krider scoring tomorrow night and anybody who spent $1,500 on tickets Monday night don’t expect a rebate you’re using them and ouri panan is going to be the reason you’re using them by the way did you use your tickets last night I mean I used them to get in well you saying you didn’t sit in your seat you sat somewhere else I mean I found my way to a sweet really you found your way to a sweet we FaceTime Tiki me I get a FaceTime wow Max lalter why the heck Max lalter FaceTiming me oh hey Sean in a suite I called him out about by the way yeah I’m calling him out now too because I was under the impression that Shawn was a regular Ranger fan 19 19 most the people yeah you were sitting in a bougie site you went to go save them and then You’ go disappear in a suite why they lost sushi and and premium beer me it was chicken sandwiches on pretzel buns and spring rolls but know the point still stands I think what we learned is a couple things besides what cost them the game last night and we’ll get into that in further detail we learned that me wearing the Broadway hat was a jinx on the New York Rangers hence why I’m wearing it again I left mine in the car and we also learned that Shawn morash who was trying to save the Ranger season by going to Madison Square Garden actually cost him last night because he didn’t sit in a real seat he sat in the sweet I didn’t cost him he’s becoming me I mean there’s only so many pict a bigger Bigg bigger better deal my seat whenever I get the chance wow look I respect your enthusiasm and not once over the first 12 minutes of this show am I telling you you done your season’s over I said this to you yesterday this feels like a series that goes the distance my point which I think is simple and I think the majority of people would agree with is I don’t trust your stars and I think I speak for Ranger fans when I say that so when you talk about the faith you have in our Tami panan you say it based on nothing that’s actually you say it on 120 points during a regular season and a guy who hasn’t scored a goal since early in the Carolina series I don’t trust him I trust Chris kryder I thought that was a good answer we saw it in the Carolina series I trust Chris kryder to a degree I don’t trust Ma I don’t trust panan and it’s why going in a game six for all the 94 comparisons you want to give in everyone wants to give and it’s cute and it’s fun there’s one big thing you’re missing Mark is not walking through that door bro counter point bro 1994 before game six for all the moments that he gave in 94 Mark Messier was a mercenary who had won way more championships than artmi panan could dream in another place in Edmonton the Rangers were a big failure in 93 and in 94 when they were down three games to two and he said that if Twitter X Instagram Tik Tok whatever other Chinese app we want to come in here was around you know what many Ranger fans around here who had waited 54 years not 30 years would have been typing out and do about I don’t believe it until I see it from Mark Messier and then you saw it so you could say that about artmi Panera now and I understand that I believe we will see it because 30 years ago a lot of people before game six didn’t believe a word that came out of messier’s mouth when he made that here’s the big difference between Mark Messier going in a game six and are tamy panan going in a game six besides the Rings obviously Mark Messier had scored in the Eastern Conference Finals he had great or Tami panan has not okay so you could tell me all you want about how you have faith and I feel it coming he hasn’t done that and that’s what he’s paid to do now do I give the Panthers a lot of credit sure I’m not to short changing what they’ve done to take out the Rangers best players but that’s one of the big differences like you played this game all year it’s 94 it’s 94 it’s 94 and now we’re at the moment of truth and there’s one huge huge difference and it’s that guy you don’t have that guy yet yet okay it’s Chris krier it’s got to be Chris CER I care I mean it could be paner it could be but it’s it’s Chris krier Chris krier needs to be more assertive than he just was is that that was Chris crder right that we were listening to yeah that he needs to be more assertive than what we just heard he needs to to to show confidence he needs to speak confidence because not only does it affect him it affects everybody else around him like when you do stuff like that it makes everybody around you say oh hell yeah let’s go do this then right and so I like I I I think that the Rangers have been outplayed a lot of this series yet they found they found ways to have this thing even after four but eventually that comebacks it comebacks to bite you right unless you start playing differently or better and they just didn’t especially in the third period which is something I never would have said after the first two rounds cuz in the third period that’s when they were at their best that’s when eigor was at his best and it just wasn’t the case by the way they pulled the girly too early we’ll get to that later but I feel like this Ranger team has they have the will I I just wonder if they have the the ability because the Panthers are so good they are just being like annoyingly boring you know what I mean yes and it and it frust it’s frustrating as an athlete to know that you’re better you can be better but they’re just slightly stifling you we got a lot to get to from this game including something Tiki hinted at which is was it too early to pull your goalie with
