IS NO SUPPLEMENTAL DISCIPLINE FOR DRAISAITL THE RIGHT CALL BY THE NHL?

alongside the coach Bruce buo Bruce it’s been a huge debate every postseason on the one side those who say once you get to the playoffs the rest should put their whistles away on the other the group that says regular season or playoffs the standard should be the same we all saw the dry cidal elbow that knocked barov out of game two and now the league steps up and says no supplemental discipline did they get this right you know what you know I really believe they did and the first thing I always go to and when I used to talk to the disciplinary uh gurus of whether it’s the anhl the AHL or whatever League they would always say the intent was either there or wasn’t there and I believe there was no intent right there from dry cidal he would have liked to hit him hard he would like to KN knock him off the puck but I don’t think there was any intent to injure him and I mean look at the score I mean they’re down by a goal and down by one game in the series with under 10 minutes to go there is no intent to to hurt him there is no intent um because I mean it’s a two to one game they need Dy Sidle on the ice so these are the two factors to me that are imperative that why there’s no no supplementary discipline by the way he got a two-minute penalty they scored in essence they won the game off of that penalty to me that was uh that was a penalty enough that was uh you know they lost the game because of that penalty so I mean I mean I don’t think at all there should have been any more discipline on it I’m glad they didn’t do anything and let’s play hockey let’s I mean or they’ll be looking for disciplinary action all over the ice everybody gets hit and everybody falls down anybody that holds their face they’ll all be looking for uh for suspension and I don’t think that’s the way this series should be played all right though but what if barov can’t play at this point Panthers coach Paul mie says he’s optimistic that barov is going to be able to play next game we’ve seen what he’s been able to do in terms of shutting down McDavid in dry CID matter of fact he’s done a great job of shutting down the Oilers D in general at some important times if bar how much does this impact game three and potentially moving forward well I mean just think of it as anything is if your best player can’t go your best defensive player your uh obviously best offensive Center your best Faceoff man if he couldn’t go it’s going to affect the team and it uh it would affect Florida as much as it would affect any other team when your best player can’t go but I’m confident he’s going to go and I mean what I I think the other thing too is if he couldn’t go at least in the short short term the the troops rally around everything and they and they go if this was all of a sudden to go to seven game series and he couldn’t play for the next five games then I think it becomes a big factor in the short term I think Florida would rally around everybody else and play great as we’ve seen every time time some great player goes out this is what happens for the short period of time it’s okay for a long period of time it’s horrible that’s why when you see a team normally go to five defense they’re really good that game but they can’t continue to go to five defense for the whole for the whole series because barkov has been and will be Mr Florida for quite a while yet to your point he’s been such a big part of the Panthers defense a d That’s held the Oilers at just one goal through the first two games of the series this is an Oilers offense coach that scored the second most goalss in the league after Chris noblock took over what makes Florida’s D so effective right now well I mean in a simple word it’s pressure like I mean they pressure the puck all over the ice and when they’re done pressuring and they’re done finishing their checks they’re skating as hard as they can right back to through the middle of the ice to the to the front of the net and you can often see Five Guys sitting there waiting to go and where the puck jumps on Scott Stevens always used to tell me let’s not be stiff-legged let’s jump in the corner at those guys get that first step going don’t wait for them to get in there you go and Florida does it great they are pressuring everywhere on the ice and they’ve got great sticks it’s making it very difficult for Edmonton to get in there but if Edmonton wants to do something they got to keep shooting they got to start shooting start shooting the puck and getting inside and winning those one-on-one battles if you don’t win those things I don’t care what decade we’re in hockey’s you’re not going to win the game win the battles you win the game the Panthers have held their opponents at two goals or less in all but four of the 19 games they’ve played so far in these playoffs the Oilers need to snap that Trend in game three or this could be a really short series for

Did the league make the right decision to no give Draisaitl any supplemental discipline?

  1. Shame on Bruce! Bruce No It Isn't! If OV/Backstrom back in the day had the same thing happen to them(well in OV's case the opposing player would have broke his own forearm!), Boudreau would be livid and getting fined by the League!

  2. Bruce needs to retire. He is blind.

Nothing he lists include the ACTUAL HIT.
    Barkov was shutting him down..

A player "never has tried to take out anothrr player" becuase the ga.e was close. Stfu

  3. OMG, dude, go away, you're a pathetic hack!! You know what, fine, no problem, when Bennett drops the jawbreaker on McDavid and send him into next week, we'll take the 2 minute minor also, of course you'll want the entire team arrested but nope, it's clean… clowns.

  4. I really don't get the intent talk, sure if there's clear intent you can bump the suspension up, but for 1-2 games, intent doesn't matter. Same as to why there's 2, 5 and 10 minutes penalties. 2 isn't about intent, it's about doing something wrong worthy of time off.

  5. are you fucking mad? He left his feet……………he led with his elbow…………….first contact was with the chin……..how the fuck is that not intent to injure? You alluded to why you have this view after it with all your bullshit take that "everyone will be trying to get a penalty" fucking nonsense.

  6. When barkov is suited up and playing and looking just fine next game, all this talk of taking people out is gonna sound like what it is, crazy BS.

  7. This is precedent for hits where you leave your feet with your hands up and connect an elbow to the face. Minor penalty, no fine, no suspension. Remember that next time, NHLDPS. Even if the name on the back of the jersey doesn't say Draisaitl.

  8. The NHL talks out of their Arse. It was a frustration penalty. He left his feet & landed the elbow. If that hit was on McD or Dreis Edmonton would be rioting. Just be real.

  9. OK, it is allowed to gain speed and jump to air and hit with elbow to opposite teams best player to head – or is it so long time since a Canadien side icehockey team has won Stanley Cup last time 1993 that Oilers have they own rules against Panters.

  10. That is a real pathetic solution of NHL but we didn't expect any better, did we? And I am Oilers follower and Leon fan but come on, that is bulls**t decision! No crying if Florida now plays McDavid out.

  11. NHL does not respect its own rules but explains them out when it is useful. It is governed by dishonest spineless clowns. What makes this serious is that thisway they fail to protect the players from serious injuries. No rules indeed!

  12. Edmonton Cowards . Their was no intent to hurt Barkov ??? Uhhh porky??? He launched himself both skates came off the ice, porky ..I wonder is this would of happen to Barkovs' son .. McDavid, I wonder if McDavid would of got a flying elbow to the face I wonder if the same rules apply.? ..tell me that porky..

  13. The real question is, who dove better: Luostarinen or Barkov? I guess Tkachuk and Bennett weren't getting enough calls with the constant snapping their heads back and looking at the refs, so these two had to level up.

  14. Of course it isn’t the right decision.

Now McDavid will be targeted by the panthers.

I would advise against it though, because we know the NHL will suspend anyone who touches their little golden boy

  15. "No intent".
What a joke of a comment. Draisaitl is a highly skilled player and can easily stay on the ice for the hit if he wants to, but he was frustrated and wanted to take out the guy who have effectively shut down McDavid and him.

Should absolutely be at least a one-game suspension to get crap like that away from the game.
