2024 NHL Draft – Carter George (57th overall – Los Angeles Kings)
congrats man just the the emotions when you hear your name picked and what dides that mean to you thank you very much and uh it was a pretty cool experience I mean when you get to hear your name called especially by a great organization it’s uh it’s pretty cool and pretty surreal it kind of came us a shock I’m not going to lie and uh a couple tears might have shed and uh it was a pretty cool experience hearing that you were a Kings fan before being picked does it just mean not much more for it to be the LA Kings call yeah obviously this was kind of a dream of mine since I’ve been a kid obviously going up I was a huge LA Kings fan so um I’ve always dreamed of wearing the jersey and playing for them so um it’s pretty cool to get drafted by this organization and uh it just means the world to me when your name got called it sounded like a lot of fans we’re very excited you bring a lot of people today yeah I brought a lot I probably had 20 plus people uh back from Thunder Bay a lot of people came to support me which is awesome it was pretty cool to have them here and come all this way just to support me and um just show us what kind of people they are what the last 24 hours like for you know going through the first round how’d you sleep and then wake up this morning and everything yeah yesterday was pretty cool getting to see all the guys that you know get drafted especially in the first round right uh it’s pretty cool you grow up playing with them or against them or you see them in tournament so I thought that was a pretty cool experience and going up D going up on stage I thought that was pretty neat and then uh it was tough kind of going back and sleeping and getting up early was couldn’t get too much sleep and uh uh I woke up this morning and I was fired up I woke up at like 6:00 a.m. cuz I couldn’t sleep in any longer so um it was was uh got here and it was a pretty cool uh cool get your name called the on had attack meant to getting you to this moment yeah they’ve done a lot for me they’ve helped me with my development and uh they’ve done a lot for providing me with resources and helped me succeed um obviously guys in the room and um the coaches have done a lot for me management like top to bottom they’ve been incredible to me and treated me um incredibly well so I can’t thank them enough and I wouldn’t be here without them you been to La I have yes what’s your uh maybe your favorite memory of being there or your favorite memory as a Kings fan uh when I went there probably uh my favorite member was just played we played at the LA Kings practice facility so I thought that was pretty cool kind of uh playing there and then growing up I think uh 2012 cup was pretty cool to me and then obviously they wanted 2014 too so that was kind of the cherry on top for me any thoughts on the do with Jersey and Logo I like it a lot I’m not going to lie it’s uh it’s pretty cool it’s uh it threw me off a little bit at first Cu uh I’m so used to the old logo and then uh once I kind of I kind of got used to it it looks uh it looks pretty cool I’m excited to wear it your style as a goldener and any goers you kind of kindy to emulate growing up or your hero yeah growing up I watched a lot of price and Jonathan Quick those kind of guys I I loved um and then once I kind of got to an age where I kind of started modeling my game after guys it came to eor sterky and Jeremy Swan those two guys are um kind of same frame as me play similar so um I definitely take a lot from them and can apply some of their attributes to my game and I’m still learning lots and trying to take as much in as possible from um other goalies around the league if you could talk to 16-year-old Carter and tell him you’ll be the first CHL goenda in the NHL draft what do you think you would say uh he said you’re joking probably he wouldn’t believe me but um especially if I told him he went to LA he wouldn’t believe me but um I would just tell him just to enjoy the moment enjoy experience I mean it’s pretty cool to hear your name called and all that so um kind of excited right now do you know any of the players in the Kross pool already um well obviously Liam greenry I played with him at u18s and uh at helenka and he scored on me a couple times this year so I kind of know him pretty well um other than that I’m not too familiar with anyone else
