John Mustard Says It’s ‘Pretty Cool’ To Be Drafted By Chicago Blackhawks At 2024 NHL Draft
to uh to have this moment now it’s great I mean it’s all all I could have asked for as a little kid like wanting to play in the NHL one day it’s like dream come true who’s the team that you watched growing up uh I was a leafes fan growing up yeah I mean still Leaf fan and now I’m going to be Blackhawks fan obviously I watched a lot of the Blackhawks growing up too they had that cool run so it’s pretty cool to be drafted by that organization was there anybody in particular on the Black Hawks that you admired yeah I mean Patrick Kane and Jonathan Taves I think that’s pretty generic answers but they were just so fun to watch especially Patrick Kane I really lik watching in the playoffs how would you describe your game I’d say I’m a a pretty Dynamic forward so I like to play with a lot of speed and energy like to create plays are you prepared for all the Chicago hot dog toes yeah I’m sure they’re coming so we’ll see what was your conversations with the black box throughout the season they were all pretty good I mean like the staff seems really really nice so it was it was really nice to get to know them just go through the process um yeah a little bit I think I mean they showed a good amount of Interest so I thought it was one of the top top teams for sure what makes your such a great skate uh I think it’s just the ice time I mean I skate a lot in the summer and during the season so I think the rep repetitiveness just kind of becomes a habit and I think my strides gone a lot better throughout the years are you a natural Center um I think I’m pretty good at both I mean I played a lot of Center growing up so I think I kind of want to go back to that maybe in the future so we’ll see where that takes play more last yeah last year I played FL pretty much away yeah Lev joining a organization in a re yeah this is like ideal for me I me I think I’m going to definitely need a couple years in my development so I think college will do do a good job and I think going to the Chicago Black Ops organization I’m just super conf with a bunch of good prospects to to build around looking develop your I think just my 200 foot game I think I can definitely be harder ons and just better joh you’re a Canadian kid with the East Coast us background you ended up in USHL why was that an option for you uh like I said earlier I think my development was a little later and I think the USHL kind of helps guys that have later development I mean obviously college is it’s good for late bloomers and stuff so yeah I think just the later development really really helped me HL uh a couple like musty that’s a good one and then yeah not much other than that what are you hoping to work on this summer just going forward I think it’s mainly just the same stuff work on my skills work on becoming more like I said more of 200 from CL and I think that’s hard to do in the offseason but I think just working on my skills and my SK is going to be important what’s what’s the lamest uh mustard related joke you’ve heard that’s a good question I mean I got a lot of Colonel Mustard jokes so I don’t really understand those cuz I didn’t play it so before your time yeah exactly [Music]
