Anaheim Ducks 2024 Draft Recap, Plus Free Agency & Trades Updates!
what’s going on dudes in duded I’m pretty sure everybody assumes my next video would be about the LeBron James signing that Max contract and talking about the USC commitment the other day and how we missed out on a couple more so once again going 50 for 50 instead of just the full 100% as I was hoping for that day but want to save that for another video just in case something else pops up I doubt there’s going to be much happening on July 4th once this video comes out but I am recording the night before so want to get through at least a lot of the Anaheim Ducks news their draft some other stuff as well even players they’ve resigned and signed through fre agency and made some trades but we’ll try to get through that pretty quickly in this video so yeah one of the first things that they unveiled even right before the draft was their new logo that I talked about that they were teasing only showing like the eye of the duck pretty much but then it’s kind of like that same color scheme except like there’s more like a gold trim everywhere and even like some more orange and stuff on the duck logo so it’s kind of like a newer version of the old version and I think those orange jerseys are going to be part of some of their main regular lineups this season coming up so that’s pretty cool at least they’re trying to head towards that older logo that I’ve always said that they should keep that and not have to go with that duck foot or whatever the hell it is but either way this is a positive thing coming out from the Ducks and speaking of positive like their first round pick we’re going to get into the draft right now but that first round pick apparently was a bit of surprise like a lot of people did not expect this guy to even go in the top five and even his expression when he got drafted was pretty funny too he looked surprised and shocked but in a round one pick number three they ended up going with a right winger in Becket senic sen and yeah like I said it was a pretty big surprise even to him but it looks like he’s a pretty young guy I think he’s like around 18 years old so looks like he’s not going to be coming to the Ducks roster this season most likely will wait another year in juniors I think that’s going to be the same thing for their second first round pick that I’m about to talk about right now which kind of sucks cuz you prefer to draft a guy that could help you out right away no matter how young they are but I guess if they are supposedly this talented I guess you can wait a year or two before they can start contributing to your team speaking of that second first round pick apparently it was going to be like one of the last first round picks but they ended up making a trade later in the draft and ended up moving up a couple spots so I think this one was at number 23 and they picked up a defenseman and ston selberg and yes I’m most likely going to get most of these names wrong but either way I’m going to try my best but yeah they definitely needed some help on the defensive side especially this type of player so this kind of made up for the pick that they were taking out on that long shot and the very first pick that they had in the first round but once again I think this guy is pretty young as well and is going to stick away from being in the NHL for at least another season but hopefully they will be a lot better bigger and stronger once they get to the leag at some point within the next couple of years and then in the second round they had a pretty quick pick I think it was like number 35 ended up going with the center and Lucas Peterson so yeah once again going offense kind of thought they would be head more defense in the strap but they kind of went pretty heavy on the offense but it kind of helped out in some of the trades and some of the guys they signed I guess defensively but I’ll get into that in a bit so yeah don’t really know much about these prospects but yeah overall went with another guy on offense and in their next pick I think it was yeah another was third rounder and number pick 66 they end up going with the right winger Maxim Massie and then their second third round pick they end up going at number 68 a centered Ethan PR cison told you I’m going get these WR their third third round pick they end up going at number 79 a defensive player Taran Smith round four pick 100 they go with the center Alexandre Blaze or Blas round round six number 182 so he’s obviously going to be a Hall of Famer right winger Austin bervic bevic round seven pick 214 number 14 so he’s another future Hall of Famer defensive player darl daryls old jansky so yeah a couple of maybe Hall of Famers just CU couple of pretty significant numbers obviously B 182 one of my favorite rock bands and then also 14 one of my if not my favorite number of all time so yeah we’ll see how these guys do when these guys end up getting on the ice but a lot of times when it’s these late first round Le late picks in the draft you really never know but hopefully they found some gems down in there later in the draft and the Ducks did sign a couple new players reigned some of their own and did make a couple trades so get it to some of the reigning guys there was a center in Isaac lundstrom they did resign him to like a one-year extension that’s pretty cool and they resigned the defensive player oo v v vacan v v v Canan a so hard and right winger Brett Leon to oneyear contract so those guys are back on the team then they made a trade to acquire defensive men Brian dumolin from Seattle for a 2026 fourth round pick from the Ducks so that’s pretty good it’s at least worth a fourth round pick in a future draft so that’s nice then they signed X Pittsburgh Penguins Jansen Harkins to a two-year deal and signed a right- Winger Carson mayor to a one-year two-way deal so they remember exactly what that means and their final move so far is they trade and acquired for a forward from the Detroit Red Wings Robbie fabri fabri and they also got a conditional 225 fourth round pick for their goalie Gage Alexander so I wonder if the conditional is kind of like how other leagues do it to where if the guy that the Ducks traded away to them that ends up playing a lot for a certain amount of games and all that stuff for the that goalie then I guess it becomes officially that fourth round pick and if not then it becomes Like A fifth or lower draft pick or is it based on the guy that got traded to the Ducks from Detroit if how much he plays and does well or certain goals and assists and all that stuff then does it become a worse pick than what it is right now fourth I don’t know exactly but either way a lot of new guys on this team couple of veterans here and there I know they’ve been trying to add some Veterans as well through free agency over the past couple of off seasons and it’s kind of been okay but it’s always just been kind of like a weird Miss smash of two maybe two older guys too much older guys and too much younger guys trying to work these lineups and all this stuff and yeah those young guys are finally growing up so I don’t know if a lot of these guys like like I know I barely know most of the Ducks guys as of right now but when it comes to even players coming from other teams I hardly know them as well too so yes I am a Ducks fan I guess you can say I’m not as di hard of a fan just cuz I don’t know exactly the ins and outs of this whole entire roster even some of the people run the front office and the coach I already forgot who the coach is I know he’s a pretty bunch of first timer but never been to a game either so that’s probably part of my problem so either way still a Ducks fan somewhere in my heart but hoping that they can turn it around and hopefully end up making the playoffs as well they don’t have to win just make the playoffs or at least sniff it a little bit be close enough and then you’ll be able to be on your way in the near future so yeah thanks for watching people like And subscribe comment down below let me know what y’all think have a great your day bye
