because I was watching NFL live on ESPN and they were talking about Anthony Richardson so I watched what they had to say about Anthony Richardson and what Quinton Nelson had to say about Anthony Richardson and it was kind of interesting said that he’s monstrous see he’s a gargantuan he’s a beast and of course he is Anthony Richardson is a 255 pound man who can run a 4440 and throw the ball about 80 yards on a line he has all the tools necessary to be a really good winning quarterback in the NFL is he going to be I think a lot of that has to do with who they surround him with and so who are they going to surround him with is Chris Ballard going to go out spend a little bit of money during this two week runup to the opening of camp and say hey you know what we do have a hole at free safety and we got the money to fill it we do have a hole at backup running back we’ve got the money let’s go fill that hole I think that’s reasonable stuff and you know what Chris Ballard has a reputation of not spending money and the Colts have a reputation of doing things on the cheap it’s just not supported by the facts we’ll go over that a little bit while we talk about the backup running back that should be signed and the starting free safety that should be signed because if you don’t you better be right brother about Surman or Goodson or Hull or Cross or Thomas those guys better Pony up because there are guys on the shelf right now that you can go get and you can make this team better with a stroke of a pen on a contract and on a check we’ll talk about all of that I use nonc conference schedule has been released I got to tell you what if they don’t win every single game they’ve got scheduled during that non-conference run of the Season minus the games in Atlantis in the battle for Atlantis by the way I was I was pricing out I thought hey maybe I can talk Julie to going there over Thanksgiving that’d be kind of fun they got Casino she loves casinos I love is big he is fast he is smart he is mobile he’s all of those things he’s Nimble in the pocket he’s got a quick release check check check check check check check he’s got to stay healthy if he stays healthy the Colt’s going to be pretty good and to get even a little bit better what’s got to happen is Chris Ballard has got to go get a free safety and a backup running back and I if he got a backup linebacker that’ be a nice thing too if he could get a cornerback that you felt really good about that’ be good the alternative to signing a free agent free safety and a free agent uh backup running back is that you really believe in Surman Goodson and Hull at run back one of them at least and cross and Thomas one of them at least at free safety there are a couple of people on the street right now Leonard forette as a backup running back makes all kinds of sense he didn’t play much last year like 12 carries 40 yards for the bills but the year before for the bucks over 1100 total yards caught a bunch of passes and is a guy who who is kind of one of those Swiss army knife guys who would fit very very nicely in a limited role with the Colts behind Jonathan Taylor Jonathan Taylor is not a guy like Edan James was where you want to hand it to him 340 times and throw him 70 balls you don’t want to do that with Jonathan Taylor but between Jonathan Taylor and Leonard forette if you did that you would actually feel pretty good and like I said forette 73 catches 523 yards in 2020 2 2 for the buck 29 years old 1191 total yards in 2022 again last year 12 for 40 not much so he’s rested he’s 29 does he have some good football left in him that is for Chris Ballard to answer and answer with Jim ‘s money then you got Justin Simmons who’s kind of sitting because the Broncos they didn’t want to spend $14 million on Justin Simmons as a free safety so they let him go on Pro Football Focus which is a tool not the tool but a tool you have seen since 2019 when Simmons was one of the best three safeties in all of football you have seen a steady decline in his grade each year little bit lower a little bit lower a little bit lower what is the cause of that he’s 30 does he have another year or two of really good football in him does he have it in him to be a leader for a guy like Nick cross a guy like Rodney Thomas put his armor around these guys and say look man this is how you do stuff to be kind of that guy that Mike Mitchell was a few years ago does he have it in him to do that right now it looks like the eagles the Giants are the teams that are uh kind of sitting pretty for Simmons uh work to sign Simmons for 2024 and you know and I’m guilty of this too where I say you know Jim or Chris Ballard has got to spend some of Jim ‘s money this ridiculous let’s stop spending 90 or 91% of the cap allocation and let’s go that’s not what happens nobody spent more money on player salaries than the Colts did in 2020 in 2021 they had only $3.7 million of unused cap space in 2012 they had 7 million of the 22 million that they had to spend and in 2013 of their $232 million in cap space they left 8.3 on the table so that it it is a bogus accusation and one that a lot of people fall into including me sometimes because right now we see like 24.5 million in cap space and we’re like what the hell is going on on we got Halls on this roster fill these things let’s go Chris my God but you know what over the course of a season once we get into Camp through Camp into the season through the season the Colts actually do spend their money and so the accusation that Ballard is a cash Steward rather than a roster Steward is bogus it just is oh let’s talk about Indiana University basketball they’re not conference schedule released their opener this is kind of cool an exhibition against Maran and they usually play Maran in in a season opening exhibition but this year as Scott Hedy has moved to the University of Indianapolis filling the job that Paul cararo left to take the gig at iupy you’ve got Pat Knight so Patrick’s going to come back to Simon Scott asle Hall and and Coach his Maran team against the hooers on November 1st and that’s kind of cool it’s good to have a night back in the building even if it’s coaching for the opponent uh then you’ve got SIU Edwardsville which is a a uh this sounds terrible but a bottom of the barrel kind of uh division one team that’s just the way it is then Marty Simmons comes to town uh for a matchup in the place he called home for a little bit as an Indiana ho crer with his Eastern Illinois team then you got South Carolina the Gamecock they could be pretty good this year they’ve got transfers coming in that’s the one game that it’s possible Indiana loses uh then they go to the battle for Atlantis this is over uh Thanksgiving this is uh Wednesday November 27th through Friday November 29th they play three games also involved in this basketball freeny this Beast of basketball over the courts of a Thanksgiving holiday uh you’ve got Arizona Louisville the zags of Gonzaga Oklahoma Providence West Virginia and Davidson in addition to the Indiana hoers uh I think Indiana should win that thing I think Indiana should win all of these games they should be in South Carolina certainly um then you’ve got Sam Houston State on December 3rd Miami of Ohio and Travis deal coming to town on December 6th December 21st UT Chattanooga December 28th winthrip wwwwwwwwwww that’s all you got in the nonconference schedule you will have between the games uh against Miami Ohio and UT Chattanooga you’re going to have uh two big 10 games which will include a road game Indiana minus those big 10 games should be undefeated through this uh stretch they’ve they’ve done the work necessary to put together a roster of transfers and a freshman and embac and renew coming back in Galloway and Le and this this is a good roster Newton we’re finally going to see jakai Newton play a little bit of basketball this should be fun Umar Balo is going to be an IM an immovable object down low for Indiana I think they’re in really good shape this year and should go through the non-conference portion of the schedule unscathed all right Josh Allen is changing his name to Josh Hines Allen making it a hyphen it I’m I’m always like hyphen it SCH sming it my God can we just have a name you know you know what I mean A Rose by Any Other Name smells as sweet Shakespeare told us is this who are we to ignore Shakespeare well Josh Allen you got two of them who are really good in the NFL right now you got the quarterback with the bills and you got the edge guy with the Jaguars this name change is for the edge guy with the Jaguars because people get confused I love Josh Allen Josh Allen can flat play well wait a minute which which of them can play that problem now solved as Josh Allen The Edge Rush guy for the Jacksonville Jaguars is adding hin to his name Josh Hines Allen so there you go no self-indulgence here just clearing up confusion that we applaud uh the fever they got nter tomorrow against um the mystics the mystics are 5 and 17 the Pacers 8 and five over their last 13 since June 1st this is a team playing its best bask I like the direction this team’s headed kind of like they’ve embraced Caitlyn Clark a little bit after there was some some kind of wobbly uh sort of floorboards over a Cambridge Fieldhouse where
