Kariya and Selanne joining them was quite the coup, shame it didn’t ultimately pan out.
Sorry for posting this like 3-4 times but for some reason the pictures kept getting messed up when it uploaded. Looks like it worked this time finally though so hopefully no need to take it down again.
Derick Brassard being here feels like it’s cheating a bit. Dude lived out of a suitcase his whole career.
Theo Fleury not playing on every team: challenge impossible
Can’t forget about Iginla.
Could have sworn Shattenkirk played for longer then that. Good list! I enjoyed Turgeon while he was here. Always remembered his behind the net goal that he bounced off of the goalies leg.
>Fedor Tyutin 2016-17
Wow, for some reason that’s a big throwback name for me. If someone told me he retired in 2012, I would have believed them.
#RAYMOND BOURQUE!!!
I’d add Ryan Smythe to the list. Loved the guy but it was weird not seeing him in an Oilers jersey
Fluery was late to jersey day so he got stuck with the goalie cut
A lot of former Islanders here
I feel like Ken Klee has been on all of these so far
I actually hate this memory for obvious reasons… but Brad May was once an Av. Maybe not most unusual but most despised to be sure, yes?
I knew Kasparaitis a bit when he was in NY and asked him how he liked playing in Colorado.
“What? When did I play for Avalanche?”
So, don’t worry if you forgot Darius was there because so did he.
Damn, how many teams has Shattenkirk played for?
I thought Dubnyk played more games than that
Wow I had no idea Kurri, even played that late into the 90s .
I forgot about Kurri and Briere for sure. Andreychuck having a cup of coffee is familar to me, but kinda not?
Rolston and Kasperitis were also guys I had no idea even stopped there.
Pierre Lacroix was a wizard. Avs were so lucky to have him.
I loved watching Kasparitis play. That man could lay a hit.
I was half expecting to see Mikkel Boedker here. I was so stoked when we acquired him but the team stunk that year (2016) and didn’t make the playoffs.
I liked Brian Rolston. Probably would have played a lot longer for the Avs if he wasn’t traded for Ray Bourque.
Another team another Derek Brassard sighting.
Does Joe Watson qualify when the Colorado Rockies moved to New Jersey?
Boychuk of all guys got me. When did THAT happen?
Dang I almost forgot Danny B was on the Avs for a hot minute. These lists are great!
Did we ever get an on ice photo of Vincent Damphousse in Avs gear? Or did he retire over the lockout – I can never remember how that went
That Joe Watson one is very strange. Dude is the most Flyer guy ever. Literally just suited up for an alumni game at 80 years old
Duber and Rolston 🙁
I know Owen Nolan was a Nordique so it may not count, but he only played 9 games in an Avs uniform.
I can’t believe Kurri was only one season. I played hockey with his kid (and a few other Avs kids), I swear he was on my team longer than one year. Wonder if maybe the kids stayed in Colorado after that season?
EDIT: nm, Kurri retired after that year, they must have kept living here for a while.
Boychuk’s eyes are so close together.
Shattenkirk has not aged well.
Turgeon & Stuart felt like they were here for longer
Hey now Avs drafted Shattenkirk, nothing weird about that. I was so excited for him to finally make the team only to get traded half way through his rookie year.
No memory of Briere playing for the Avs! These lists are great.
Pierre, Kasparitis, and Salo- all a big part of my childhood and growing up a huge hockey fan
My guy, are you getting sleep?!
If you have Rockies representation- could put Lanny there too
I’m surprised Dale Hunter didn’t make the cut.
Kariya and Selanne on the avs was a weird sight
The thing I see in the players on unusual posts is the old guys looking so cooked. They can’t hide it. It has to be a really depressing time. Playing hockey is all they’ve done their whole entire life and they made it to the top and can see it is coming to an end. They lived their dream so I don’t have too much sympathy but the end has to be a hard realization for some of them.
No Ray Bourque? I know he’s a highly publicized/name in the rafters guy but it doesn’t make him an unusual player for that team.
As I’ve said before these are great, keep em’ coming
