The Cardinals announced Sunday morning they have designated Giovanny Gallegos for assignment, ending the run in St. Louis for the most tenured reliever in the Cardinal bullpen.

Will Gio find a new gig soon and what are the avenues toward that potentially materializing quickly? Plus, how active will the Cardinals be in replacing his spot with a potential trade?

  1. What's next? Well an N.L. Central team will pick him up and vavoom, he's a 7th or 8th inning galactic Gallegos star for a contender. He will then burn the Cards in a late series, get a save..(galactic Gallegos burns hot)..just before he returns to uh oh Gallegos, letting go of games again where he will be released, and for a second time he will have a team say "We,
Let Go Gallegos. ( I been waiting a few years to say that. )
It's OK though, He will be in and out and up and down and in 4 years or less he will return, a triumphant Redbird hero. He still won't be good but it will bring back the days when ,we pretended, we liked him. As we will again but you and I both know, in the back of our heads, we whisper.
    " Let Go Gallegos….. 😂😂,

all kidding aside, I was really rooting for the guy, I wish him the best and who knows….he may be back someda, Good Luck and God bless.

  2. I have fond memories of Gio during his good years and I appreciate everything that he's done. I wish him good luck wherever he ends up.

  3. I don't think they will make the playoffs and even if they get lucky they won't go far. Trade Helsey for Holliday and a high pitching prospect, trade Goldy and trade Arenado to Dodgers for one of their major league or M.L. ready pitchers or so.

  4. Guys a multi-millionaire. He’ll be fine. Thinking they tried to get takers. None. He has been horrific in any leverage innings since his collapse even before the playoffs against the Phillies. All we need is a wipeout lefty reliever, ace, and guy who doesn’t shrink when RISP. Hoping they step up internally. Meanwhile 2-2 in the 5th against the Nats. Getting into slog mode. Again. Go Cardinals.

  5. Gio hasn’t been the same since he was crushed in the WBC in 2023. Since that point, it’s blown save after terrible performance. He has one or two good performances in between, but not enough to justify $6.5 million. Next on the chopping block should be Dylan with his .200 average and below average WAR

  6. Lethargic in every sense of the word.
Arenado plays like who cares if I run.
Who cares if I catch a foul ball. Winn, now playing in reflection of the Who cares if I get that ground ball or apply a tag at 2nd base on a steal attempt.
The Lethargic environment is a poisonous environment.
Arenado plays like a spoiled brat , it rubs off on the rest of the team .
Meanwhile, Lethargic is the end result.
35million to Arenado and he jogs down the baseline for 1 twin kill after another after another.

  7. They are a game out and imo Cardinals ending to both August and September are more favorable then any of the Padres Dbacks Braves Mets… the two brewers series and padres series plus game with the Mets are the most crucial for this team going 7-3 vs those teams in the back half stretch could vault them way up…
I don’t see Atlanta with all their injuries sustaining based off their schedule and if we add correctly and take those brewers series we could catch them as well

  8. If they are smart and get a starter I’d like to see that guy or Gibson get the make up game vs the Mets unless Gray comes back to form and gives us an absolute lock down 7 inning game
