For me, Tomáš Vokoun having only 20 games is the biggest shocker on this list
Felt like he was Fleury’s backup for at least 1.5 seasons.
One of the most underrated goalies of the salary cap era
Vokoun is the other way for me. I can’t believe he only played 20 games!
So many goalies

“Dammit”
Iginla in Pittsburgh 🤮
What, we had Kulikov??
Satan on Crosby’s wing 👌
I expected to see Ziggy Palffy
Antti Niemi was a bad time
Roberts was only 57 games, I always think of him as a pen in my head, but that might just be because I played more NHL games back then.
Iginla was more frustrating to me than Hossa, in the long run that is. I was so fuckin pissed Hossa went to the Wings. Then we beat them and I cared a lot less. Though had he stayed him and Sid would’ve been incredible.
Iginla though, dear god what a waste. Fuckin Dumbass Dan Bylsma insisted on putting Iginla on his off wing for the whole time there. He could never find his groove.
A Hall of Fame winger and you put him on his fucking off wing like you think you’re some innovator or secret genius. That and a laundry list of other bullshit decisions Bylsma made are why he’s somewhat despised by a lot of hardcore Pens Fans.
Sullivan is following in his footsteps
Uh, Luc Robitaille starred in “Sudden Death” with JCVD as a penguin.
Seeing Iginla in Pens jersey just seemed plain wrong 😂 Also WTF Pens had Antti Nemo Niemi??
Niemi’s tenure in Pittsburgh might be the worst 3 game stretch for a goaltender of all time
PONI
That Marleau trade was one hell of a fleece job by the Sharks. Traded him to the Penguins for a 3rd, he played 8 games, then turned around and signed with San Jose again the next year.
WWGRD
Papa Roberts is still fondly remembered for his time with the Pens when the Letang, Geno, Fleury, and Sid were still toddlers for the Pens
Could have so many more on this one from the cup chasing years… David Perron, Derrick Brassard, Mathieu Garon, Jordan Leopold, Mike Comrie, Steve Sullivan, Douglas Murray, etc
What a testament to how protracted time seems when you’re young; I would’ve sworn Robitaille and Zubov were each with the Pens for a few full seasons.
When Vokoun would make a big save, the pa guy would play Song 2 and the crowd would yell “VO-KOOOOOUUUUUUUUN!!!!”
It was awesome.
Also come on, his tenure in Pittsburgh gave us “TOO MUCH MAN” Gary Roberts.
I am a little biased, but this is the most interesting one of these so far.
No Laraque
Wow, Robitaille played a lot longer in Pittsburgh (in my mind). I would have sworn it was like three or four full seasons.
No John LeClair?
As a kid I thought Lalime was the next Patrick Roy
Šatan came, won a cup and left.
Wasn’t expecting Patty to be the first face I saw here.
Also I appreciate the back to back Tippet sightings. And Hossa in his cup chasing days. lol.
Christian Ehrhoff comes to mind…
Niemi’s time in Pittsburgh was something special.
Niemi might be the worst goalie in team history.
I’m sorry, but the 16 game unbeaten streak to start his career makes Lalime more memorable as a Penguin than anywhere else he played.
TOO

MAN
I swear, I’d be a Penguins fan just because of the logo if they brought back the one Snow’s wearing
Johan “Moose” Hedberg (because of his 2000-01 playoff numbers)
That Hossa playoff run was so good.
Hahahahah Niemi might have been the worst tender in a Penguins jersey
I’m having a meltdown over Kulikov. I don’t not remember him ever even being with the team.
Also I remember Vokoun and it seemed like way more than 20 games.
Lalime’s helmet was so iconic I do sort of think of him as Penguin in addition to Senator
It makes me sad not to see Gonchar on this list. Not because people don’t associate him with the Penguins but because I wish people didn’t associate him with the Penguins. 🙁
Miroslav Satan is one of my favorite Penguins of all time.
Robitaille felt like he was there longer, but that might just be because I played as Penguins on NHL 94 for like 5 years.
