2010 THN Draft Guide. Taylor vs. Tyler: Who ya got?

  1. Before anyone asks, prospects 37-39: Galiev, Kabanov, Hishon. Not worth wasting reddit’s digital ink over. My condolences to the teams what took ’em.

*edit, I am having to include more pages year over year though, maybe they’re getting better at this scouting thing.

  2. For this age group, I think Panarin has become the best player. He hasn’t peaked at an MVP level like Hall but his sustained level of play has to put him above everyone else here.

Honorable mention for prime Kuznetzov as well, as good as Backstrom was he never reached the level Kuznetzov did for their cup win.

It’s fun to imagine a different timeline where Hall goes second overall to Boston too.

  3. Some big steals this draft. Gotta think Tarasenko and Kuznetzov are top five picks in a redraft. Stone, Klingberg, Freddie Andersen, Gallagher probably all go top ten and they were picked 130th+++. Fowler dropping to the Ducks was a steal.

  4. Ones so good I may trade him straight up for Adam Larsson. The other I’d say is worth more of a package deal of Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Matt Fraser and Joe Morrow. Both talented young players but when you can sell a dollar for pennies you gotta do it everytime.

    – Peter Chiarelli

  5. Scout on Brandon Gormley: “I think he’ll play in the league for 15 years.”

58 total games. Scouting is hard.

  6. I went to this draft and it was really cool how all the players were just wandering around Staples Center and meeting with fans. I Kings fans were really pissed when we traded up to draft Forbort instead of taking Tarasenko. At least we got Toffoli though.
