[Heyman] Blue Jays tried to trade for Juan Soto

  1. the blue jays could easily afford to give soto the bag… I mean outside of injury risk… which basically all life on earth has: nothing is certain…
Soto will definitely set records wherever he signs long term.

Maybe he has zero interest in being a blue jay… but I think it’ll just come down to rogers cheaping out as usual.

  2. WHY. DOES. THIS. MATTER. NOW.

Did we get him in the end? No. End of story.

What consolation does Heyman expect us to feel from this? Is there some sort of prize for trying but not quite getting him?

  3. When Soto was announced to the Yankees, the headlines simply read “Soto to Yankees”, and then we moved on. What exactly is Heyman trying to accomplish with this article, SEVERAL MONTHS after the fact?

  4. I thought we already knew this? Wasn’t this getting reported on at the time? Or am I hallucinating that lol

  5. I signed him for 6 years, $250 million in The Show, so that should get done IRL.

I’ll let Atkins know what’s what.

  6. Just cover the fucking guy 500 million over 10 years and get it over with. He needs to be in Blue. He will sell jerseys.

  7. Is this the level of “sports news” we can expect for the rest of the season? This is so low-effort.

  8. We all know this, and we know that the reason why the Yankees gave up so much was they didn’t want to lose out on him and they didn’t want the Jays to get him and Ohtani. Jokes on them though …. 😔

  9. I know people are frustrated with the front office but they understand that Atkins is negotiating with a human, right?

He could have offered Vlad, Bo, every minor league player under contract, and the chair from the George Springer commercial and be turned down.

He could hold Shohei’s family at gun point and Ohtani can still be a Dodger.

Sure, some GMs are better at convincing folks than others, but did you ever consider that maybe he traded Moreno and not Kirk because no one wanted Kirk? You, the fellow on Reddit, had some secret information that Kirk is fat, and it is Ross’s fault Statcast tracks sprint speed?

I’m so fucking sick of the “tried isn’t good enough.” This ain’t the fucking Show and there’s no bamboozle GM cheat code.

  10. Still a few months before the offseason but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Jays PR team has a story ready to leak that they “made a very competitive offer for Soto but he chose X team instead.”
