It would be hard to draw up a more brutal end to the 2024 season than what transpired on Monday — and in the week leading up to it. The Diamondbacks could only watch helplessly in the clubhouse as they watched an unmotivated New York Mets team lose the season finale to the Atlanta Braves.

  1. Sorry for paragraph but i gotta get this demon out of me. This season is the antithesis of 2023, where we started hot, took a nose dive off a cliff in July and where just barley able to steady ourselves enough to get into the postseason and our young pitchers simply could not find a groove till the end of the year. this year we had a very rocky start after that first week and suddenly surged to life in the second half becoming one of if not the best offense in baseball, and only our young pitchers seemed to be able to stay on the field and find a groove while Gallen, Kelly, and ERod spent time on the il and we likely cashed our resign CWalk money on Monty who may have been running the worlds greatest Italian restaurant out of the clubhouse with the level of MEATBALL this dude was just huckin' over the plate. Geno had more production at 3rd base in july than we had in the previous NINE MONTHS of the regular season at that position. Marte losing MVP steam due to a sloppy play by a guy that bats .130 off of balls on a T. Shout out to my favorite NL pastime, having pitchers swing the bat, McGough knew that ball was outside you know he's a monster with the stick. After the owners finally put money into the team, and even thought it did improve us, I doubt they will do much to improve this off season when they aren't getting the 'yoffs bonus this year. 2025 year of the snake, shout out Jesse’s graphs, and I hope Geno puts me into a Razor’s Edge. Love you guys keep up the good work

  2. Enjoyed watching them this season (minus the very end). Unfortunately the team collapsed in September and have nobody to blame but themselves. Had they taken care of business and win literally ONE MORE game, they would have been in. Blowing that 8-run lead to the Brewers sill haunts me. Dropping 2 games to the Rockies and 2 games to SF were also bad.

    Hope they rest up, recharge, and we'll see them in the spring!

As a Padres fan let me tell you, however amazing the second half run we had it was frustrating that a) it still wasn't enough to catch the Dodgers but also b) seeing the Diamondbacks having an equally hot run it made us feel uneasy and couldn't relax because we knew one of those teams that were streaking couldn't sustain it all the way.

  13. well. it's over. Win the games you were suppose to win should be all the reason… not why the Mets decided to rest players for a Playoff game less than 24 hours from now. After being skulldaggered by the MLB you guys would understand. Sad room but take responsibility.

  15. it wasnt the mets or braves job to assist you to getting into the playoffs lol. take accountability for ur teams shortcomings esp late in the season. also realistically u had to know whoever won game 1 wasnt gonna throw out anything close to an A type effort considering playoffs starts 2morro

  16. also funny if its the braves who won game 1 and coasted gm 2 theyre bitching bout the braves. lol clowns ur team let u down be mad at them for losing a series to the rockies, giants and most recently the padres who had nothing to play for.

  17. It seems to me you are upset that the Mets didn’t do for you in game 162 what your own team failed to accomplish over the course of the season. If you look hard enough, there were plenty of opportunities the Diamondbacks had to win more games which would have put them in the playoffs regardless of what the Mets or Braves did today. The Mets were given up for dead in May and June and fought and clawed their way back. They still almost failed to make the playoffs despite having one of the best records from July through September. Did they get lucky? Perhaps, but they did put themselves in a position to win based on how hard they worked over the last three months. Personally, I think the Mets were just highly motivated and managed to outwork other teams who maybe became a bit complacent down the stretch. The Mets may or may not go far in the playoffs but if they play the way they are capable of playing they have a decent chance to make a deep run.

  18. I feel for the team and want to applaud their great job. TBH, several key players like Moreno and Marte were not 100% healthy, still healing from their injuries–going into post-season and pushing their bodies might not have been the best in the long-run. Looking for the silver lining. We'll be rooting for you in 2025!

  20. Something to think about is Dbacks also benefited from padres pretty much throwing the game on Sunday bc losing that game was very much in their best interest (guaranteed double header for Mets/braves)

  25. When your future is in the hands of other teams you must take the risk. The Mets passed the last days more in the plane than on the field and must play on Tuesday in Milwaukee. Why should have had to risk the starters for a game meant nothing?
