  1. Welp, I’d say we weren’t really outplayed. The margin of victory was three wild pitches that should have been blocked, with a few questionable managerial decisions thrown in. If Vogt rights the ship tomorrow, we’ll be competitive.

  2. Rodon today according to baseball
    savant.

52 fastballs. 31 in the zone.

25 sliders. 3 in the zone (lol)

9 changeups. 1 in the zone.

    4 curveball. 3 in zone

    3 cutters. 2 in zone.

93 pitches. 40 in the zone. Strike rate of 43%. His offspeed strike rate was 18%.

    18. Fucking. Percent.

Swung at 17 of the 34 sliders and changeups. Whiffed on 13 of the swings.

Just atrocious plate discipline and approach once again vs a starter. I continue to pray Chris Valaika is not employed soon. They could have had the approach of “if it’s not a fastball keep the bat on your shoulders” approach and they would have been great. Instead, golf swings for days. Turned it on vs the Bullpen but too little too late.

Shoutout to Avila, Sabrowski and Walters. Hell of a job keeping it reasonable when it could have gotten out of hand.

Josh, Bo and Noel are borderline unplayable right now. Weaver threw 12 straight balls and Naylor was the only one swinging for the fences.

Vogt going to an unproven rookie starter with the bases loaded in Yankee Stadium instead of your #1 lefty reliever to get out of the jam vs Rizzo proved to cost us the game. Don’t really understand the move.

    On to game 2.

  3. Today’s Cleveland POSTSEASON baseball:

I have been inebriated this entire game.

I have not been summarizing as the game goes on and started typing in the 8th. I have been drinking this entire game. This will not be very good but ima try. Alex Cobb🦢 was under the gun early, with a Soto single in the first and a pair of singles in the second. It took until the third until a run scored, and of course it was Juan Doto with a solo home run. A trio of walks brought out Hoey Cantillo, giving Cobb a final line of 2.2IP, 5H, 3R, 3BB, and 3K on 65 pitche s(36 strikes).

Cantillo didn’t do well. No other way to put it. A walk and two wild pitches scored a run, making it 4-0 Yankees. He got Verdugo to strikeout for the final out. Joey continued with two more walks (and two wild pitches) in the fourth before being pulled for Pedro Avila🍩 (I love you Pedro). Pedro gave up a sac fly but got out of the inning with no more damage.

We jump to the sixth where Brayan Rocchio postseason magic struck again with a solo home run to make it a 4-1 game. Was not very effective, as Sabrowski entered the game and gave up a seventh inning solo home run to Stanton. The Guards fought again in the eighth, with a trio of singles from Gimenez, postseason Rocchio, and Kwan to make it 5-2, but the Yankees stopped the bleeding there. Walters entered the game and did his duty, 3 outs in the eighth.

I hate this ump. Beat Cole tomorrow. Force home field advantage across face five games. Win the pennant.

  4. Remember Josh Naylor? I liked when he hit for us.

Tomorrow is a must win now with Bibee. Gotta steal one in their house. Let’s come back tomorrow boys.

  5. The Naylor brothers are sinking this lineup. Manzardo has to be in tomorrow. Hedges plays, even if he can’t hit.

  6. That sucked, but no clutch hitting, beat ourselves with poor control, catchers couldn’t catch. Gotta be much better tomorrow, have to steal one in NY

  7. Want to give Vogt the benefit of doubt, but a lot of head-scratching coaching decisions overall. My only justification is that once he saw that it was going south with Cobb and then Cantillo, it kinda became a scouting game to see what stuck against them and what didn’t. Hopefully, we come back tomorrow with a better lineup and a better pitching rotation. At least the four horsemen are well-rested for and we have Bibee starting off, but our bats have a steep hill to climb against Gerrit Cole. It’s a long series tho.

Also Josh Naylor has lost the smoke.

  8. Not intelligent baseball by Josh. Weaver just walked a guy, and he hacks at 3 straight balls.

  9. So if we don’t throw a dozen wild pitches, we’re toe to toe with them right now. It’s just one game, we can hang with these clowns if we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot

  10. Series is still winnable. Let’s steal one in the Big Asshole tomorrow and bring it back to Cleveland.

  11. Cantillo bases loaded

    Schneeman (?) instead of Brennan

    Brennan instead of Fry

Leading to a ninth inning asking Schneeman and Hedges to get hits.

Our manager turned a winnable game into an impossible one. That’s going to be tough to swallow.

  12. Honestly I feel much better about how this ended. Outside of Cobb and Cantillo, they really didn’t hit us hard. And that was our B and C reliever group, while the core guys went untouched.

Offense looked okay other than the few innings we were shell shocked. And forced Weaver to throw 2 innings.

    Take tomorrow’s game.

  13. Tough way to start but this series is far from over. Mets got blown out yesterday and evened the score today. Our job to do that tomorrow.

    Shout Rocchio and Pedro.

A certain duo of Canadians need to figure it out quickly

Bibee vs Kermit with our big 4 pen arms getting some extra rest. Take a breath, clear your head, get the split tomorrow, and come back home

Calling it a season now is a shit way to approach this

  14. Jose and Josh have to step it up. Batting sub .200 and can’t get a single hit with men on base.

Vogt made some questionable calls but our superstars need to play like superstars

  15. Man. Fuck the Naylor’s! They are garbage. The decision to PH Fry was probably the worst decision of the tonight.

We are down 1-0 and have a fully rested bullpen and Bibee going. We can even this series up.

  16. We lost but for some reason I’m not really upset over this. We really beat ourselves, but for some reason I’m feeling confident in this series.

We didn’t use our big guns in the BP and made the Yankees use their closer for 5 outs.

Rochhio looks great so far, just need Jose to wake up and Josh to have that swag again.

  17. I’m tired of the Bo Naylor experiment. He just is not good. If they don’t retain Josh I don’t think I’ll be very upset. He’s been missing for months now.

  18. I’ll say it again – if you’re a pitcher, you don’t need to throw anything but changeups to josh naylor low and away. He will literally swing and miss EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. He is a black hole in the lineup. He batted 4 times today, saw less than 15 pitches, and made contact twice – 2 foul balls, and one was an accident.

  19. Not to be insensitive, but Josh has gained serious weight that has coincided with his decline the last few months.

  20. The only thing “elite” about Josh Naylor at this point is that fucking cheeseburger locker he’s been filling up.

  21. #JOSH NAYLOR CAREER POSTSEASON PLATE APPEARANCES WITHOUT A WALK COUNT: 62

    *Sixty. Fucking. Two.*

  22. Bo is frustrating…but Josh is unbelievably annoying. He literally is fucking us over. How many times are we going to watch a situation where guys are on base or a pitcher is struggling to find the zone and he comes up and swings at three wild pitches to fuck up some momentum. It’s almost criminal at this point watching him.

  23. It’s just one game. The team looked overwhelmed by bright lights of Yankee Stadium. (Except for Rocchio and Kwan.)

I’m most disappointed in the Naylor brothers. Just bad, noncompetetive at-bats. We need you guys.

I still feel confident we can win tomorrow if Bibee pitches well.
