The Orioles (86-70) lost their final series at home to the Tigers and arrive for a three game series against the rival Yankees, unfortunately with the division all but wrapped up for New York. We would have to win out, they would have to lose out. At this stage, we need to win games to simply protect a home field for the Wild Card round, while simultaneously preparing ourselves for a top competitor like this as we get ready for October. The O’s enter the day with a magic number of two, so there is a chance to punch our playoff ticket as soon as tonight. Dean Kramer will making the start, and it will be his turn once more on the final day of the season at Minnesota. Clarke Schmidt is the right-hander on the mound for the Yankees. A potential preview of a series in October, we should be in store for a playoff-style atmosphere in the Bronx. So saddle up, grab some snacks, a drink or six, and enioy the ballgame.
