When you Call Her the 2015 NL Cy Young Race instead of Perfect

  1. Should’ve been Zack. Didn’t he have like 39 scoreless innings in a row at some point that season?

  2. Also greinke looks so handsome in this picture it’s kinda making me lose my mind

  3. 2015 NL Objective Most-Best Pitching Achievement (IP^2/ER)

    1) Grienke 1209

    2) Arrieta 1165

    3) Kershaw 984

  4. Wasn’t a fan of Arrieta at the time (and definitely wasn’t a fan a couple years later) but he deserved the 2015 award

  5. I’m a Cubs fan so I’m obviously biased, but Arietta was as dominant as I’ve ever seen for about an 18 month stretch. It was a guaranteed win every time he took the mound, and almost a guaranteed shut out, too. Truly remarkable run he went on.

  6. Grinch kicked in a batting line of .224/.232/.343, with 2 HR, 2 doubles, a stolen base, 3 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

I suspect that Kershaw and Grinch split some votes, and lo and behold, arrieta got 17 first place, Grinch 10, and Kershaw 3. With only 200 K, I guess voters didn’t feel he was dominating folks as much as he was. FIP liked Arrieta better. But it liked Kershaw best.

  7. Man, that run Jake went on was super human. Makes me wish that would have been their world series year.

  8. I’m convinced Arrieta was on roids that year. The beard was to cover the acne, and the size of his forearma basically tripled from when he was on the Orioles.
He then became injury prone and never was anywhere close to that good.

  9. Kershaw was so dominant through that season that the Dodgers hitters would just take the night off. He had awful run support which is why his record looks a bit off.

  10. Unlikely to ever see so many innings pitched unless MLB forces starters to go further into games to get credit for starts and wins. But it’s up to the teams, competition committee and the players association to agree on all those points.

  11. Paul Skenes was working on this level in a rookie season. Had he not played for pirates his win total would be higher and he would’ve started the year in the rotation, not later to save service time.

  12. And my Mets beat all 3 in October and that’s having to face Greinke and Kersh 4 times in a 5 game series!!!! What a season.
