They won't get Soto and a 25 million budget is not enough to fix this team. Next year will be the same as this year with a fire sale at the trade deadline followed by years of rebuilding. The window has already closed on this current team. They should have fired Shatkins before last season.
It says approximately $700MM so it’s not an exact confirmation of matching Ohtani’s offer from LAD. Nitpicking but important tidbit.
Regarding the 700 million.
I would assume, they will try to get Soto for less, presumably in the 600-650 range, and the excess 50-100 would then be used to increase the 25-30 million available.
Soto alone isn't going to be enough. They would need to add Santander or Alonso,Fried or Burnes, Scott or Estevez.
All 6 of those guys would be well in excess of 100 million AAV.
They should trade Vlad and use that special budget to sign Alonso, Tanner Scott, Max Fried, Santader and Bregman
Then we would have a legit team not just one really good hitter.

Apparently Rogers only pays 40m to the Jays for Broadcast rights.
The number is so low because 48% of TV money goes to revenue sharing and Rogers purposely under pays, so they don't throw away half of a FMV payment they essentially make to themselves. (Sneaky lol)
Rogers owes the Jays a chance to run at some legit talent at legit dollars.
The estimate is that we have 800k watching Jays games, where the Yankees only have 550k and their TV deal is comfortably over 100m

There is no way they can afford to pay Soto and Guerrero, that's about a billion dollars. It's either soto or Guerrero.

If we sign Soto, what does that do to the Vladdy contract talks? How much better is Soto than Vladdy? Is he better at all? No good to sign Soto and lose Vladdy. I'D love to see an episode discussing this

Sorry couldn't care less what Atkins does, until they sign Vlad. And more and more its seeming like they wont. Which is completely absurd and completely illogical. These idiots are bending over backwards to get Soto when they already have a Soto. Its fukin insane. If they do trade Vlad i am completely done with this team and don't care who they bring over. And I bet they don't get Soto and still trade Vlad too. Atkins has a thing for majorly Fin things up.
