  1. Is this a joke? New blood is needed at all levels of management. Montgomery was fired. Good move. He was a good motivator, but not a tactician or a strategist. His track record, before he arrived with the Bruins, confirmed it… and yet management took the risk. Now Sacco must leave; he will not save anything. As a senior assistant, his word was heard… and yet, nothing happened. The last two victories were very difficult, on the edge and without any more cohesion and enthusiasm. But more importantly: The owner must finally fire President Neely and his friend GM Sweeney. Sweeney, the GM of missed opportunities. This is no longer possible. They have been useless for years. They protect each other's position and do no more than is necessary to upload the team. Only temporary plugging! It becomes stupid in the long run. Enough is enough. Hey! Cam and Don, have some dignity… Get out! No fan of the team wants you to stay in your job anymore. There is no shortage of winners and connoisseurs of the game to replace you: Bourque, Bergeron, McQuade, Chara, Horton…

But alas, I have the unpleasant feeling that nothing will be done until the fans, present at the TD Garden, boo the management and brandish posters demanding the departure of Neely, Sweeney, Sacco and demanding the hiring of Bourque, Bergeron, McQuade, Chara, Horton…

We need real winners determined at all levels… including on the ice.

Hey! Mr. Owner, it may not be too late for this current season… so, REACT and ACT accordingly!

  2. Is the Tagline for this episode actually an inside joke?

The Bruins, like basically every other NHL team that has ever fired a coach, has had a little bump in better energy, attitude and execution since the coaching change and that has allowed them to beat, instead of lose, to two other NHL dumpster fires

    What hasn't changed?

In those two wins they scored a grand total of 1 Even Strength goal and only 3 goals combined

Versus Utah that went a craptastic 1-7 on the PP while also shooting only 5.5% on the PP and ZERO %. at 5×5

The Bruins were never as bad as their first quarter of the season but all "that bad" is relative to their willingness to execute and put in the required effort to compete, regardless if the teams they are playing against are the better ones or worse ones talent wise

However, what hasn't changed is this fact, Sacco or no Sacco, the Bruins still can't score at 5×5, the special teams are still a problem and they still have a lower talent forward group that will struggle to score consistently even against other NHL's other dumpster fires

    Proof? The last two games

Nothing about moving onto Joe Sacco will change these Bruins issues that are personal and not execution, attitude or effort related:

    2C as their 1c
    3C as their 2C
    No real 1C or 1LW
    Geekie as the 1LW
    Brazeau as the 2RW
At least two bottom 6, limited guys in their Top 6 EVERY GAME!
    Bad PP
    No real PP QB
Bad PK that clearly misses Debrusk and Heinen
Three regular d-men that aren't terrible good at defending in Zadorov, Lohrei and Hampus Lindholm

The more talented players will rebound because they have talent. So Swayman, Marchand, Pasta, Elias Lindholm, etc…

However, the forward group is a limited collection of inconsistent guys who can't and will never score consistently.

Worse yet, they are not only relying on those guys for secondary scoring, they're also asking too many of them to play above their skill level in the lineup and produce as Top 6 players, which as we all know, hasn't worked out to date and won't work out in the future

The Bruins, more than anything else, have only one problem that the new coach will never be able to solve…

    It's called lack of talent

That my friend, is a Don Sweeney problem

    So sure

Sacco will likely, at least in the short term, get better effort, execution and attitudes from this current Bruins group

As the schedule is vanilla soft until basically January, it's safe to assume just better execution, effort and attitude will see them start winning more games, especially versus the .500 or below .500 teams in the NHL like them

However, when they start playing the NHL's better, more skilled, fast and high scoring teams, the Bruins will have no margin of error defensively or in goal because if they fall behind to those teams, they simply lack the kind of speed, skill, forecheck, special teams and overall scoring talent to overcome their deficiencies that will rear their ugly heads far more versus the good teams, than the bad ones

So the answer to the question is both "Yes" and "No"

Yes, Sacco has and likely will continue to help fix the Bruins execution, effort and attitude problems

    AND

No, Sacco will not be able to do anything about their lack of talent, which will see them, at best, qualify as a low playoff seed before getting their teeth kicked in by Florida or a different #1 or #2 seed come this Spring
